Beau's Brave Adventure

Donation protected
My name is Samantha Kietzemann (Schacht), my best friend Tanya has this little boy who has captured the heart of everyone he meets. Beau Benser isn’t just any ordinate baby; Beau has a hypoplastic left heart which is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart.

Tanya found out about Beau’s heart defect when she was 20 weeks pregnant and since that day, her life hasn’t been the same.

Beau was born last October (2016) at the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Since his birth, Beau has had 2 open-heart surgeries and 12 other procedures including having 80% of his bowels removed due to necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) which is a medical condition primarily seen in premature infants where portions of their bowels undergo necrosis (tissue death).

In April (2017), Beau was finally able to go home and be with his family but his time home was very brief when Beau contracted a respiratory virus that required him to be transported via Flight For Life back to the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Thankfully, he arrived in time and was able to go home just a few weeks later and has been able to stay home.

Over the past year; not only has Tanya laid Beau in the arms of many surgeons, she has slept upright in hospital chairs, listening to the beeping machines and had been thankful for the nights when there were no alarms. Tanya has smiled through all the tears just to see Beau smile and giggle when his favorite nurses stop in to just say hi. Tanya has not only found the strength to keep going when there wasn’t any left but the love for her son Beau is the fuel that enables her to do what seems to be impossible.

What will Tanya Do with the Money:

Beau has a lot of medical bills that are coming due but he also has medical expenses such as medication that needs to be filled regularly to guarantee Beau will remain healthy.

Since Beau does have a heart condition, Tanya will also use the money to help keep Beau on a heart healthy diet as outlined by his doctor.
