Fire at Bear's Den Diner

Donation protected

Bear's Den Diner is a local icon in the Nocona, Texas, community (North Texas Hill Country).  In the early afternoon on Saturday, August 5th, the diner and home attached to the diner caught fire.  Hayley and Brenon, live in the attached home. They both work at Bear's Den Diner. Their home and their income are gone. The young couple lost everything.  They only have the clothes on their backs.

The diner is severely damaged and will require a lot of work to get it back open.  Bear a.k.a Earl will not have any income until it reopens.  This is a time where Bear needs our help. To earn income to recover from this tragedy, he needs income, to earn income, he has to reopen. Let's rally to help Bear! Whether you're a Nocona-native, a Montague County resident, or a nearby Saint Jo neighbor, please help return to Bear what he has given us as a community. For those of you who stumble upon this page or have friends and family who are frequent customers of the diner, please know that repairs will be costly, and your support will help a small-town Texas community member get his business back, and its community back together.

Let's help him get back open! We have a chance to give to him after he has given to all of us for so long.

We are organizing some work weekends to help with cleaning and repairs. More info coming soon.

More about the Diner and Bear!
This is a huge loss for our community!  Everyone loves the hospitality and food at Bear's.  He is a kind hearted person who loves everyone!  Bear is our direct neighbor, and we watch and join the community members and passer-bys over food, and great conversation. Bear opens his doors for the ladies and gentlemen of Montague County and Nocona Hills for poker and bunker nights. Bear's isn't just a diner, it's a place for camaraderie and Southern comfort. Bear opened this restaurant only 2 years ago, and it has become a home-town staple. Bear will join you at your table, take care of you, watch your neighborhood, and welcome you to the community with open arms. Please help change this tragedy into an opportunity to rally together as a community, and change Bear, Hayley and Brenon's lives during this hard time!
