Bachelor of Design Grad Show 2019

The annual University of Alberta Bachelor of Design Grad Show provides an important opportunity for graduates to showcase their work in a space that will be seen by both industry and the public. This event supports BDes graduates transition from student to professional work. The show comprises a gallery exhibition, print and digital catalogues, with industry and public receptions. Our Grad Show depends on fundraising efforts. We are seeking your generous support to help us put together a successful event.
Designers face ambiguity in every step of the design process. There is a degree of uncertainty and discomfort that we must embrace in order to build. Through 4+ years of intense design education, we have honed our ability to combine our instincts and our knowledge of design. We have developed an intuitive sense of knowing when something is finished, when it is good or bad, or when we have brushed up against something new and exciting. By embarking on careers in a field where the answers are never black and white, we must rely on our instincts and trust the design process. Our show is titled You See It When You Know It, a play on the phrase “you’ll know it when you see it.” This show is about the harmony between knowledge and intuition. It is about embracing the uncertainty in our work and in this next phase of our lives, as we embark on our careers.
The exhibition You See It When You Know It will be open from April 2nd to April 13th, 2019 in FAB Gallery at the University of Alberta.
