Bazzano Family Fire Relief Fund
This GoFundMe campaign is for the Bazzano Family of Redwood Valley California. Anything is appreciated.
On October 9th, at 2am I was woken by our neighbor’s caretaker who lived across the street from our home at 3201 Road J, Redwood Valley California. When I opened the front door I could see the northward mountain ablaze. The fire was less than a half mile from our front doorstep with whirling winds blowing ash and embers in all directions. The flames were at least 100 feet high and I could feel the heat on my face. I woke my wife Lilly and we went into panic mode. We were able to get the boys and our dog, a handful of clothing items, Sebastian’s seizure medication, and a few blankets. Within 10 minutes the 5 of us were in our 2 cars and racing away from our home flaked by fire on 2 sides. We were able to get to safety and are uninjured, unlike some of our neighbors.
On October 11th, it was reported to us by a reliable source that our home and everything within was completely destroyed. There wasn’t partial damage or even some remnants of our home left. Everything was lost with nothing but ash in its place. It wasn’t until 10/13/17 that we were granted access to our neighborhood. The destruction was absolute. The sense of loss is devastating. There are no words to describe these feelings.
This type of loss isn’t just measured in material goods, but also identity. Clothing, pictures, many musical instruments, our chef’s grade kitchen, toys, the boy’s school artwork, report cards, paintings, Christmas décor, our 5th wheel travel trailer, camping equipment, furniture, large and small appliances, bedroom suites, 2 computers, and many, many electronics are no more. We are left with nothing but the clothes on our backs and memories.
We now seek the charity of others, which thus far has been very gracious to say the least. Lilly and I have been exceedingly diligent and successful in our pursuit of self-reliance for many years. We now seek help from family, friends, our community, and loved ones.
We do not know of an appropriate number to request in this GoFundMe campaign, and any dollar value feels selfish, but we are without choice. Anything is helpful in our pursuit to rebuild, as we cannot do it without the help of such charitable contributions. Anything helps and is appreciated.
