Batyrkanov Family House Fire Relief

Dear Friends and Family,


In the early hours of March 4th, 2019, the beloved home of Vera and Omurbek Batyrkanov was set ablaze due to an electrical fire. In the aftermath- a night of firefighters extinguishing flames left behind charred belongings and a partially demolished house.

Although the fire devastated their home and possessions, thankfully Omurbek, Vera and their daughter were able escape unscathed in the middle of the night at the alert of their smoke alarms. They are all safe and being housed now as they begin a long period of rebuilding. Most of their belongings are unsalvageable at this point.

Many of you who know our family have reached out and asked to help in any way. This fundraiser is an opportunity to show support during this difficult time and period of transition.

Omurbek and Vera Batyrkanov are loving parents to four children and grandparents to 8 amazing grandkids who love them and their home dearly. It was truly a family gem as well as a place of many gatherings, birthdays, and the occasionally late night tea sessions. This loss is felt greatly throughout our entire family.

Many of you also know Vera as a cherished piano teacher and mentor to the children and teens of the Slavic community in the greater Portland Metro area. Even amidst this trying time, she thinks of her students and is planning to continue lessons as soon as their housing situation is resolved.

All funds will be directly transferred to the Batyrkanov family and used for interim housing, new clothing and recovery.

We thank God for protecting our family from the fire and for the peace we feel even now with this loss; we are grateful that no one was hurt. We thank all of you who have reached out and for the support, consideration and prayers. May God richly bless you!
