Re Activating Campaign - Everyone has a story & sometimes we need some help from others ......
My name is Betty Ann & I am starting this GoFundMe campaign in hopes of gaining my life back. This is among one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do . It is extremely hard for me to ask for help & to let people know I am struggling, but there are times in life when we must step out of our comfort zone to do what we need to do . For over a year I have been just surviving- but I want to start living - and this is the Step I must take in order to do so !!
Mistakes, Delays, constant changes in agents , bureaucratic red tape - still waiting for compensation....
Want to raise enough funds to cover
- Physiotherapy ( new approach and not covered by health care or SAAQ) - $80.00 per treatment 2X a week
- Psychotherapy (will provide much needed mental support & strength during this difficult time but not covered by health care or SAAQ - $100.00 per session / 2X a month
IT COULD BE ANY ONE OF US…
On March 26, 2016, I was walking across the street when a distracted driver didn't stop at the stop sign & plowed into me ..She says she didn't see me . I do not remember much after that but I ended up at the hospital . I waited 5 hrs to see the emergency doctor . My x-ray results were not read or overlooked by the emergency doctor & I was sent home .
Injuries:
Comminuted intra-articular fracture (tibial plateau) - Right knee & patella ( a break of the bone into more than 2 fragments)
Left & Right knee sprain
Left Ankle Sprain - Grade 2-3 anterior talfibular ligament (ATFL)
Meniscus tears ; Ligament tears; Soft tissue damage
Ptsd - depression/anxiety/flashbacks/nightmares
Impairment severity class 3
I've been struggling to recover & heal after the accident . I have received sporadic support/compensation from societe de l'assurance automobile Quebec (SAAQ). It is a stressful ordeal dealing with all the bureaucratic red tape & at this time I have fallen through the cracks .
Bureaucratic red tape, delays, many mistakes, numerous changes of agents - still awaiting compensation ...I have hit a wall !!
SAAQ has closed my file in spite of numerous medical reports, letter from my family doctor , second doctor referral all indicating that - A) have not recovered / chronic pain B) worst damage because of how & where the car hit/ takes longer to heal ( post fracture injuries) C) physio needed ASAP D) Reading of x-rays overlooked - should have been put into a cast - immobilize fracture right away - instead of knee brace E) delay in treatments - 2 mos walking on fracture w/o brace & later start with physio F) sent to Intensive rehab too quickly especially with a fracture.
It is not uncommon for it to take as much as a year to 18 months to fully recover from a tibia fracture .
I thought that SAAQ is supposed to be there when someone is injured in a car accident. I am fed up & frustrated by all the bureaucratic red tape . SAAQ's refusal to recognize me as a victim of a car accident . The one commodity that is scarce is Time & I am watching my life pass me by. I am unable to work. I am unable to enjoy the things I once enjoyed ( running , yoga, hiking , baking ) . I am in constant pain & do not participant in much of life . I am watching my legs get worse & my depression /ptsd take over my life .
No one is taking my case seriously. The woman who hit me with her car gets to go on with her life with no consequences. I have been housebound because I find it extremely difficult to get around & depression (ptsd). I am very anxious & fearful in & around cars. It's very difficult to walk /stand for long periods of time . I know something is wrong but I cannot get anyone to hear me ..So hard to recover when you are worried all the time - permanent disability, financial support and stress dealing with SAAQ.
Funds - will go to medical costs while in treatment & can't work.
Hoping to take all Financial stress away so can focus on recovery & health .
Just trying to get proper treatment & regain a normal level of functioning & gain control over my life which has been a maze of red tape. It has caused undue stress, mental anguish, and a loss of quality of life .
Being a victim of distracted driving has had life changing consequences for me that will last my life time . My whole life has been sidelined & my spirit broken. I am unable to move forward. I did not ask to be hit by a car -
I made a living as a Pastry Chef/ Cook and will not be able to support myself or pay my bills alone for a while.. Please help me get the best care possible, funds will directly go to me and my family to help alleviate the financial stress that will incur as I focus on my recovery. Every Dollar Counts, no donation is too small, anything helps..
