Barry O'Donovan East Clare Local Election Campaign

Donation protected
For those of you who do not know me personally, my name is Barry O’Donovan  and I live in Tuamgraney in the beautiful east Clare area.

As the father of two young children I am concerned about the world we live in and the world their generation will grow up in. Our modern lifestyles put serious pressure on the finite resources that we take for granted such as clean air and drinkable water.

I am writing this on a cold January morning and there are roses, strawberries and raspberrys in bloom outside. The last four years have been four of the hottest years on record with last year seeing very uncommon extremes of heat and cold here in Ireland.

I am standing as a candidate for this years local government elections because I want to engage in conversations about the choices we are making, about economic opportunities, about the availability and quality of housing, about how we use our roads and how we can create space for our children, ourselves and visitors to our countryside to walk and cycle in safety. I want to see the long term costs and benefits considered when we as a society make decisions about, or investments into, our towns and villages, our communities and our environment.

Our global climate is changing, our economy, our community and our society will need to change along with it. We can adapt to some changes but we will also need to transform the way we live to prevent other unmanageable changes. This transition will be challenging but it will also present many new opportunities.

I am standing for the Green Party because I believe our ideas are some of the best proposals on offer to make this transition just and equitable, I am asking for your support to try and reach as many people as possible with my message and shape the debate in the run up to the local election.
I am striving to get elected with a strong sustainable green mandate so I can represent the people of east Clare today for a better future tomorrow…

I will be running in the Killaloe (East Clare) Municipal District for a seat on Clare County Council.
If you would like to help out on the campaign you can contact me by email or on facebook.
I am also on twitter at @barry_o_donovan and on Instagram at barryodonovangreenparty

All of the funds raised here will be used to support my campaign, produce materials to get my message out, or sustain the volunteers who are campaigning with me.

Please note: since this is for an election, campaign donations (max €200) can only be accepted from residents of Ireland, or Irish citizens living abroad.
Funds raised will be drawn down into a campaign donations account and will be accounted for to Standards in Public Office Commission  (SIPO).
All donors will receive a breakdown of spending once the election campaign is complete.
