Barnabas Station - Complete the Dining Room
Barnabas Family Ministries is dedicated to strengthening, educating and encouraging families through Christian retreats.
Barnabas Family Ministries is a unique ministry and Christian Retreat Centre that has been blessing families since 1986. Located in the most spectacular setting on Keats Island B.C., it is a place of ministry, support and respite for parents, young adults, youth and children. The love and support they provide for families is desperately needed in today's culture. This is demonstrated by the growth they have experienced, selling out their family camps year after year and desperately needing to increase their capacity.
And so they began construction of The Station in September 2014.
After many years of dedicated labour and through God's grace and provision, the new kitchen in the Station is finally operational. The staff feel so blessed to be serving the guests from this shiny new and much more spacious facility. This is also a great encouragement to many of us who have prayed for and supported the Station project these many years. We can finally see the first fruits of all our contributions of time, treasure and prayer.
However, while finally having a new kitchen is awesome, the work is not finished. Barnabas needs our help to keep construction moving forward. In particular, we need to complete the Dining Room next, ideally in time for the fall program. Not only will it be more efficient to serve the food and clear tables in the same building as the kitchen, but it will increase the safety of our dedicated staff who won't have to carry all that food and dishes from one building to another in inclement weather. While acknowledging they did so faithfully for the last 30 years, the distance is now greater between the new kitchen and Lamplighter's Cottage, the building where the current Dining Room is located.
We need to raise $75,000 to complete the Dining Room. This will pay for the concrete floor with in-floor radiant heating, new flooring, electrical work, drywall, basic lighting and and staff/construction labour. Fortunately, the existing tables and chairs can be used in the new space, but finishing the space is the current priority.
As each phase of the Station project is completed, we move closer to being able to serve and bless more families every year. We thank God for the opportunity to participate in this great work and hope that you and your family have been or will be blessed by this ministry too.
