Barbuda Hurricane Relief Fund

$9,230 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 251 people in 9 months
On September 6, Hurricane Irma caused widespread, catastrophic damage to Barbuda - a 62 square mile island in the Caribbean with a population of about 1700 people. Hurricane Irma destroyed 95% of the homes and left one person dead.

As a former Miss Antigua and Barbuda (2007), I am using this platform to raise funds to help rebuild my country. The government of Antigua and Barbuda indicates that it will take about 200 million dollars to make this a reality.

The Barbuda Hurricane Relief Fund will  provide relief to survivors in the form of emergency supplies like food, water, medicine and will help with the rebuilding process.

All donations to this fund will be transferred to the Waitt Institute by December 25. To learn more about this organization and how it is helping Barbuda, click on the link.   http://www.waittinstitute.org/barbuda-hurricane-relief

Thank you for your generosity.

With Love,

Tasheka Lavann

Happy 2018 Friends!

Barbudans are slowly getting back on their feet and we'll help with their recovery as soon as our funds are handed over to the Waitt Institute.

Because the Barbuda Hurricane Relief Fund account was started in Canada where I reside, withdrawal has to take place using a Canadian bank account. To this end, Waitt Institute and the Go Fund Me team agreed to have the funds transferred to my Scotiabank account then wired to them.

That won't be a problem at all since I know the funds will be used for the rebuilding process and essential supplies once received. Our contacts at the Waitt Institute also assure you that updates will be provided as much as possible.

On my end, you will receive a final update with links or photos of the transfer information to ensure we continue accountability and transparency during this entire process.

Again, we thank you for your kindness.

With Love,
Tasheka Lavann

As the 2007 Miss Antigua and Barbuda and because of my deep love for my country of birth, I started this campaign to help raise money for the People of Barbuda who have been devastated by Hurricane Irma.

Over the last four months, thanks to you our amazing donors and friends, we raised $9,210 of the 10k goal. That I cannot thank you enough for. I am simply grateful.

I have already contacted the Waitt Institute which was selected by Barbudans themselves to be the recipient of the funds to ensure Barbudans receive every benefit. Waitt Institute's banking information has now been added and we are only now awaiting the process of transfer.

Once the transfer is completed and acknowledged by the beneficiaries, all documentation of this will be made public to ensure full accountability and transparency.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

With Love,
Tasheka Lavann

Happy Holidays Friends of Barbuda! We hope the season is treating you well and bringing all the warm smiles your way.

For many Barbudans, there won't be a real Christmas this year. Barbudans are still residing in Antigua and won't be in the comfort of their own homes for some time.

This campaign is coming to an end and supplies are still needed. Let's use this Christmas season to support a great cause. Give a final donation to the Barbuda Hurricane Relief Fund. Your donation will certainly go a long way.

Funds will be handed over to the Waitt Institute on December 26 and a final update with documentation of the transfer will be sent to you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Sincerely,
Tasheka Lavann
