Banana Bread Babe's New Bakery Fund

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Bernadette Adrianna Sweeting King, affectionately known as The Banana Bread Babe!

I took to the streets of Palm Beach County in October 2009 with a basket of freshly baked, mini petite loaves of Gourmet Banana Bread. The tasty treats are flavorfully moist with a choice of toppings.

The venture began after having been hospitalized and loosing my position as an Artistic Director and becoming frustrated with the inability to find work.

So, every office that I'd been denied employment, I went back to... Only this time with a basket of treats! The first day I made $70 and realized I was on to something. One month later, a doctor ordered $1500 worth for delivery to 58 other doctor's offices for the holidays... The doctor said this was the first time ever, that the recipients made phone calls to say thank you for the holiday treats! They loved what they'd received...

THAT PUT ME ON THE MAP!!!!!!

Word has gotten out over time and some would like for me to sell wholesale...but I can't. I have wholesale interests  locally and out- of- state. The law was never broken based upon Florida's Cottage Food Act. I'd be able to sell wholesale in a properly licensed kitchen... So, I'm believing that this campaign will help fund the needs for a much needed bakery!

I will be able to obtain space, utilities, appliances, licenses, an accountant,  a lawyer, insurance, incorporation, packaging, nutritional info, UPC #, website,  logo, aprons, caps and new baskets for the  girls/guys who will go out and make people smile! I am unable to  service all of the places where I'm invited ... I am only one person. With the space, right tools and manpower, sales would increase... We will kick butt!!!

JOBS WILL BE CREATED!!!!

And this 53 year old, single  mom will be able to better provide for her 3 wonderful/unsupported/ collegebound offspring, make a difference in the lives of other families and the community...

In September, I injured my foot and was unable to function as usual. I took a job in the evenings caring for an elderly lady. During this down time I realized what Iam best at and desired most... to open the bakery.

In my 20's, I owned/operated Bernadette Adrianna , a Gallery of Wearable and Decorative Art, 238 Sunrise Ave., Palm Beach, FL 33480. I handpainted and tie-dyed fabrics which were used to create garments that I designed and made. In addition to the garments, I also designed and handcrafted jewelry and accessories... and showcased the work of local and out -of- state artists. I started this venture with $300 and remained open for 3 years...

My dad, Freddie L. King, Sr. owned the second Black Real Estate Company in Palm Beach County.  F.L. King Realty was 35 years in existance before closing in 2008.

My late maternal, Bahamian grandfather, Herman Neroy Sweeting, owned a local grocery store and my late  paternal grandparents, Matthew and Emerline King, owned a thriving Soul Food restaurant for 40+ years, which fed the Black Atlanta Braves during Spring Training.

Please, let's come together and make history with the opening of Banana Bread Babe & Co.

Chop, chop, we must move quickly on this!!!!!! I want to open before our "Season" is in full throttle!

Thank you, thank you and thank you,

The Banana Bread Babe and Her Offspring
