When we got his diagnosis, shock set in. I struggled to accept that my boy has cancer. Tears come without warning. Sleep evades you. Every aspect of my life is twisted.
I don’t think I even moved the first week. Action becomes your obsession. Where do we go? Who do we see? What is the best thing to do? There is an overwhelming need to mother him. My 27 year old son isn’t too receptive to this. So, you hold that inside....longing to wrap your arms around him and kiss the boo boo away like you did when he was little. But that won’t work. So you walk around, try your best to put on a brave face, clean your house, do your job, shop for groceries. All the while, you are carrying a broken heart. I’m sorry for the random breakdowns. I’m sorry for the constant posts about the benefit ride. It has been a good distraction for me. But what Jordan wants and I wish is that no one knew him outside of being his friend or him being their UPS guy. I wish this had never happened. I wish my boy was as healthy as we thought he was on his last day before getting this diagnosis.
Thank you to every single one of you that gave your money, your well wishes, and your prayers, your time and talents for the ride. Thank you for being a shoulder for me to cry on, an ear to listen, a pillar of strength.
