Our Baby Musa
By the blessings of Allah, we have been given a healthy baby boy, Musa Mazen Mokhtar. Musa was born on September 10, 2015 at 7lb 3oz.
We learn from the sunnah, that in times of celebration we share with those around us in the blessings of Allah. As such, Mazen and I have decided that the best way to share in this new blessing is to give to those in need in Myanmar. We humbly ask our family and friends to donate to Myanmar - in lieu of any gifts for baby Musa. All funds received will be donated to Myanmar through Islamic Relief.

Nearly three years after a state of emergency was declared in Rakhine, Myanmar (also known as Burma), thousands of people remain displaced, unable to return to their homes.
According to government reports, the majority of those who were affected by clashes in June 2012 were Muslims. The UN reported that some 800,000 Muslims of Rohingya ethnicity live in Myanmar in the northern Rakhine State. They are regarded as some of the most persecuted people in the world, and face regular food shortages. As clashes continue in their home area, their desperate situation has turned even more horrid.
Some who fled the violence crossed over into neighboring Bangladesh. But many were turned away and existing refugee camps have been capped. In 2015, some even tried to flee to nearby waters to find asylum or refuge, and ultimately neighboring countries took them in.
Continued tensions keep many in danger and in need of help.
Islamic Relief USA, in collaboration with the UNHCR, has been working to provide relief and humanitarian assistance to internal refugees in the Rakhine State of Myanmar.
