Surgery and Recovery

Hey every it's John. For those of you who know I have been living out in oil field country for the last three years now.  It's  really been amazing, I've learned so much out here. The opportunity has truly been a blessing to my family.  Now the oilfield can be abundant with jobs in one instant, and out dry in the next.  Sadly I was let go due to gas prices going down. Its normal out here, and I was reassured that things would pick up.  So in the mean time I got on unemployment.  Job leads started coming in and I got myself something but it doesn't start till January. I planned to just wait it out since I can't make the job start when I want it too.

A few weeks back I started having some stomach issues with some odd sensations. I went to the doctor and I was referred to a specialist.  Long story short I was informed that I have an umbilical hernia and I need surgery to repair it. Now that sounds pretty easy, however there is an issue that I did not foresee. Since I'm on unemployment I called to ask what would happen after my surgery is done. I wanted to make sure I knew what to expect because I was told my recovery time was a month and a half.  I was then informed that since I wont be able to work I cant receive benefits and I did not see that coming.

Now I'm faced with two things to do. Cancel my surgery even though I need it, or get it and not have an income for over a month until my new job starts.  I work in a very strenuous field and not getting the surgery isn't a smart move, but neither is not having an income for an entire month and a half.  Lynette has thought about going back to work, but I would be left alone at home taking care of the kids, and if you ask me that can be more of a work out then being out in the field. We have no one out here who can help lighten the load. So I decided to do a gofundme so that my family can be ok while  I am not able to be  working. Every dollar raised will go into the essentials, bills, food, and rent.  If you can't donate simply sharing this does wonders as well!

Once I start my new job I'll be fully recovered and I'll be able to payback those who have helped me and my family during this interesting time in our lives.  Thank you and God bless you all. Namaste
