Those of you that know me know that the past year has been huge for me, full of ups and downs, but full of huge life-changing events nonetheless. In short, I am a transwoman currently living in Texas. At the begining of 2015 I was stuck in NYC on the verge of being homeless and faltering greatly in my endeavour to become myself. Since then, my transition has kicked into high gear and I have really made leaps and bounds forward since leaving my former living space.
However, financial problems continue to plague me since moving. After a period of unemployment and then a period of working two jobs with insane hours, I've finally landed a decent job witb benefits and have begun to chip away at the debt I've wracked up and am able to support myself.
Unfortunetly, as you probably know, transitioning is very expensive. I've managed to maintain the purchase of my hormones and other necessary medications myself with help from my girlfriend and roomate. Sadly, with the burden or supporting ourselves and trying to pay off on the debts I've accrued due to life happening and my period of unemployment, I rarely have a significant amout of money for anything but existing.
Yesterday I had a consultation with a highly recommended surgeon who has given me a quote on a gender confirming surgery that I have greatly desired to aide in my transition, the quote is good for one year and I am setting aside everything I am able to try and afford it, but sadly my goal is a long ways off. Anything you can do to support me in getting this surgery that will undoubtedly relieve untold amounts of anxiety and depression will be not only a load off my back financially but off my mind and heart. Thank you for your help, support and love.
