As Miss New York 1995, Helen Goldsby disclosed publicly that she had been a survivior of 8-years of child sexual assault. The Miss America program requires each state titleholder to assume a platform using a community or world issue as their service to their state and nation. Helen's platform and issue of choice was--you guessed it, Child Sexual Assault: Awareness and Advocacy. She has continued in her fight to teach awareness, prevention and healing to the topic and its survivors throughout her time as Miss New York through today; even alongside a successful career as a singer, actress, and speaker and ultra busy life as a mother of two. https://www.helengoldsby.com/
In this his project Helen and other fellow musicians will perform classical music workshops for children and teens who are and have been victims of child sexual abuse. Utilizing music as a tool of expression and an aid for disclosing (reporting about the abuse); so it empowers them to take back their voices; many times a direct effect of the abuse. The donations will assist with space rental as well as items needed for vocal lessons, musical games, tutorial materials, sheet music, instruments, multi-media, instructors, travel and keep-sakes. Children identified by local safe spaces and social services in under-served communities will benefit first; however the goal is to be make musical contact with any child or teen within this region that has suffered at the hand of a sexual predator. This is a summer project so time is of the essence! Your opportunity to help in this cause and fight is right now. All donations are tax-deductible. We thank you so very much for your heart and care for this platform and project.
