Help Kelly Say Goodbye One Last Time
My friend Kelly is in a difficult situation.
Recently released from a job she moved across the country for, and with no family in her area, Kelly is financially struggling while looking for gainful employment again. And while this is important to state, its not the only reason I'm starting this crowdsourcing project.
Kelly's last living grandfather passed away on July 7, 2014. While he requested no funeral be held, there will still be a family gathering. The thing is, Kelly can't afford to go in her current financial state, and her family cannot help her.
As someone who has lost a significant amount of loved ones, I can confidently say that I miss the ones I never had the chance to say goodbye to the most. Closure truly helps heal, even if its not in the form of a traditional funeral. Simply being around those who loved the same person and who love you for loving them is enough to speed the healing process (without entirely curing it, because there is no magic to make the pain go away entirely).
I don't want Kelly to have the same feeling of a slowly healing wound when it comes to her grandfather. Kelly is so vivacious, loves life, and loves her family. She shows her respect and passion for her family in every aspect of her life. She, more than so many people I've known, deserves to have one last goodbye.
The money raised from this campaign will go directly to travel costs for Kelly. Flights from Boston to Indianapolis aren't inexpensive, which is why the cost is so high. It also factors in the need to feed herself while on this trip, and to allow herself to take the time she needs to begin the grieving process in a healthy way, surrounded by those she loves.
I know that if I was in this predicament, Kelly would do this for me. Please give back to a woman who strives for compassion and empathy in her everyday life, and who loves her family to Andromeda and back. Help her fly home to gain closure and say goodbye to her last grandparent.
