Bringing Bussy Building Back

$4,675 of $15,000 goal

The historic Bussy building on Margaretville's Main Street has been empty since August.  That's sad.  It's an important anchor building in our community.

Built in the mid-1800s, Lafayette Bussy started selling groceries and dry goods there at the turn of the 20th century.  His children and grandchildren continued the tradtion until the 1980s. Margaretville residents and visitors who remember it are excited about starting a new tradition there.

Now, as then, there are scores of phenomenal food growers and producers in our region, bringing the farm to every table.  They need a year-round place to sell their wares.

With the help of our community, our start up business will fill the Bussy building with the best fresh food our local farmers offer, along with top quality, delicious treats from our artisan food producers.  We'll create a special space, where people can, once again, meet and eat, catch up and converse, and take home the bounty of the farmer's basket.

With your kind support, the Bussy building will be a vibrant, living landmark once again.

I remember Bussy's - and also the Drug Store on opposite corner of Walnut, My kids (now 42 and 38) still talk about the real marble soda fountain -and ice cream sodas! Would love to get that back somewhere -- feeling nostalgic, Add some cappucino and Voila! Any chance of that? Other Memories????

THANK YOU EVERYONE for your AMAZING SUPPORT!!!!! This project sure is coming to life! Our priority at the moment is to have the lights on and a warm welcoming fuzzy feeling coming from The Bussy Building as our family and friends arrive home for the holidays! The Village seems to be filled with new energy as all the shopkeepers together are preparing a magical holiday celebration for the community to enjoy. It takes a village as they say!!! Any bit that you can do, five or ten or even two will help us so much to make our goal a reality and have the doors open Thanksgiving week-end! The BIG GOAL is to officially open Spring 2016!
