It is with great sadness to have to announce and to accept the tragic loss of someone who is adored and loved by so many.
Paralympian Ian Chan (Richmond, BC) passed away suddenly in the early morning of March 18, 2019, at the age of 41.
Ian had a long and successful career as a professional athlete. Over the course of twenty-years, Ian became a World Champion, five-time Paralympian and a highly decorated athlete whose on-court accolades are only surpassed by his impact off the court. His kind spirit and positive outlook on life, truly left a lasting impression on those who got the chance to know him. He was a son, a brother and a friend to many people all across the globe. Ian viewed many of his friends as family and of course that was true with his entire rugby teammates. He was well respected in the rugby community not only as a highlighted player, but as a coach as well as a mentor. His impact on and off the court will truly be missed, but the legacy of him will continue to live on and be celebrated for years to come.
In honor of Ian's passing there will be a Fundraiser held at:
Ceili's Irish Pub: 7331 Westminister Hwy, Richmond, BC V6X 3V9
Date: Sunday, March 24th, 2019
Time: 19:00
Tickets will be $20 at the door, which will include 1 drink and be entered in a draw towards a $100 gift certificate for Ceili's.
All proceeds from this Fundraiser as well as this gofundme page, will go directly to Ian's family, to help cover any costs of the funeral.

It has been so touching to witness so many individuals come together, it really puts into perspective just how much he was loved and how much he will be missed. Thanks to everyone who donated! We are beyond thrilled and thankful to have reached our goal! I will now be accepting the funds and getting the funds to Mr.Chan. And we will be closing this campaign, I will keep you all posted for future events and charities on behalf of honoring Ian and his legacy. You guys are all so amazing, thank you again.
