Andi's story begins on February 7th 2014, when he came into the world 3 months early, in a hospital in Bucharest, Romania. He was so fragile and barely weighed 2.4 pounds!
He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, more specifically spastic paraparesis. This condition causes muscle pain, muscle stiffness, and spasms and it reduces the range of motion to the point that it is impossible for Andi to walk unassisted.
The road to recovery has been long, not to mention emotionally and physically exhausting for him and his parents. Over 3 years of treatment and daily physical
therapy sessions have not had much effect on Andi's motor abilities. His family even made a financial effort and tried an expensive treatment with Botulinum toxin injections to reduce muscle tightness and... still no change. The more time passes, the harder it is for him to make a full recovery!
Fortunately, they found out that The Children's Hospital in St. Louis offers a procedure called selective dorsal rhizotomy, which has been proven to significantly improve the lives of children very similar to Andi. His case has already been reviewed by the doctors at the Hospital's Center for Cerebral Palsy Spasticity. They also recommended a orthopedic surgery for his calf muscles for best outcomes.
Andi's mom and dad hope to bring him to the US as soon as possible, but the cost of the two medical procedures adds up to $60,000, an amount too great to be covered by their income alone.

Povestea lui Andi incepe in data de 07.02.2014, cand a venit pe lume mai devreme cu 3 luni, atat de fragil avand greutatea de 1100 gr si cu un diagnostic crunt: paralizie cerebrala, mai exact parapareza spastica. In traducere creierul lui da comanda gresita picioruselor, cauzandu-i dureri musculare, scurtarea tendoanelor si facandu-i imposibil mersul.
In ultimii 3 ani, am reusit sa tinem in limite acceptabile spasticitatea prin nenumarate ore de kinetoterapie si injectii cu toxina botulinica. Eforturile depuse pentru recuperarea motorie a fiului nostru nu au condus la rezultatele dorite, de aceea am cautat o alternativa.
Salvarea a venit din SUA unde exista o procedura medicala numita rizotomie dorsala selectiva, completata de o a doua operatie de tip ortopedic, ambele efectuate la Spitalul de Pediatrie din Saint Louis, Missouri, unitate medicala de la care am primit acceptul si unde speram sa ajungem cat mai repede cu putinta. Costurile celor 2 interventii se ridica la aproximativ 60.000 dolari, o suma care nu poate fi suportata din venituri proprii.
Calitatea vietii lui Andi se poate schimba cu ajutorul dumneavoastra prin orice donatie, sponsorizare, dar si prin simpla distribuire a povestii baiatului nostru. Suntem increzatori ca acesta operatie ne va indeplini cea mai mare dorinta a noastra, aceea de a-l vedea mergand!
