AWCAA Annual Walk-A-Thon

On Saturday, September 30th the African Women's Cancer Awareness Association (AWCAA) will be hosting its annual Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser to support its mission to improve health care delivery and services for African women living in the US and abroad. AWCAA provides access to breast cancer screening services and treatment to African women living throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.

Every day women in need of emotional and financial support to manage their illness come to AWCAA’s doorsteps seeking assistance-- women like Ms. Bose whose mammogram screening indicated the presence of cancer but cannot afford a biopsy. AWCAA incurs the costs of these medical expenses which can range anywhere from $450 to $4000. In addition, medical costs, AWCAA also works hard to cover breast cancer patients’ medication co-pays, groceries, and utility bills. In order to continue to provide this support to the breast cancer patient community, we are asking for YOUR support. Please help us in reaching our fundraiser goal of $5000 so we can continue to provide support to patients in need as well as reduce disparities in breast cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment among African immigrant communities, especially the underserved, under privileged, and under insured. Our programs cannot continue without your support.
