Help Us Bring Janice Home
A Vacation Gone Wrong
On June 16, my mother-in-law, Janice, my wife, Mahrnee and I flew into San Francisco from our home in Clermont Florida, planning to do some sight seeing and visit relatives. Then we were going to Sacramento and Lake Tahoe to visit more relatives and attend a family reunion. (I was staying in Sacramento while they continued on to Lake Tahoe.)
The first three days went fairly well though Janice was feeling under the weather. On Thursday, the 19th, on their first night in Lake Tahoe, Janice was having trouble breathing and had to be rushed to the hospital. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and congestive heart failure. They had to put her on a respirator.
In the Hospital
While in the hospital, they discovered a blood mass in her hip. At some point in the next couple of days, she went code blue, but fortunately they were able to revive her. Due to complications, they had to perform an emergency surgery which she came through. They were able to move her to a bigger, better equipped hospital in Reno, Nevada, which is where she is now.
Due to having gone code blue, her kidneys have stopped working, and she had to have dialysis. They put her on paralytics and under sedation to allow her body to try to heal for a couple of days.
Bring Janice Home
While she is no longer in a medicallly induced coma, it looks like she is going to have to be hospitalized for some time more. I flew home on the 23rd, but she and Mahrnee are still in Reno, Nevada. Mahrnee can't leave her mom alone in Reno and come back so she can work, so we're hoping to raise some money to putJanice on an "ambulance flight" to safely move her to a hospital near where we live and work.
It Costs Too Much
We have done some research, and the price of such a flight could range anywhere from $25,000 to $33,000 or more. Sadly, we don't have that kind of money lying around, which is why we're turning to crowdfunding via gofundme.com
We Need Your Help
You can help us. If you can't afford to give a lot, give a little, if you can't afford to give a little, help us by spreading the word so maybe someone you know can help us get Janice home. Any funds we receive will be put toward getting Janice home and paying the impending hospital bills.
What's In It For You?
To make it feel less like you're throwing your money away, we have decided to offer what we can to make it worth your while.
Bronze Level
Mahrnee makes custom jewlery, and has offered a pair of earrings to anyone who donates $40. If only 750 people donate $40, we can bring Janice home.
Silver Level
I'm an artist, and I'm willing to offer you an original work of art done in acrylic on a 2.5 by 3.5 inch canvas card to anyone who donates $75. I've already done a number of these in 2012 when I was averaging a painting per day so i have a good number ready. If only 400 people donate $75, we can bring Janice home.
Gold Level
If you can afford $100, I'l send you an original work of art on a 5 by 7 inch canvas panel. If only 300 people donate $100, we can bring Janice home.
Platinum Level
If you can afford $500, I'l send you an original work of art on a 8 by 10 inch canvas. If only 60 people donate $500, we can bring Janice home.
Titanium Level
If you can afford $1000, I'l send you an original work of art on a 16 by 20 inch canvas. If only 30 people donate $1000, we can bring Janice home.
Diamond Level
If you can afford $15000, I'l send you an original work of art on a 30 by 40 inch canvas. If only 2 people donate $15000, we can bring Janice home.
Our goal is $30,000, and we don't care how we get there. We're trying to offer plenty of incentives to reach our goal so we can bring Janice home and hopefuly return to a normal life.
Give a lot, give a little, share with a friend. Anything you can do helps and is greatly appreciated.
