My name is Will Hart. I am a 71-year-old author trying to finishing an important book. Six months ago I was stricken by a strange infection that I could not trace to any abrasion or cut. I did not have any kind of injury. But there it was it grew into an open sore quickly.
I sought treatment right away. The Dr. gave a prescription for an antibiotic cream and an oral antibiotic as well. I thought okay I should be fine in 7-10 days. But that was not the case. In fact, I got worse. I went back and this time he gave me a stronger antibiotic via 4 consecutive injections.
I was still applying the cream and changing dressings 3 times a day. I waited for the injections to take effect...and I waited. But again, nothing happened except I got a bit worse. By this time it was quite painful. I could not sit down to write. I also had a hard time walking.
Additionally, I am diabetic so prone to inflammation and infection. That is the case because my immune system is already compromised. At that point, I went to see another doctor who gave me the 3rd antibiotic in a little over a month and a half. I was already feeling very drained, tired all the time.
I took that course and thought for sure that it would cure the infection. That went on for 12 days. He also ordered a lab. I went back to see him before the course was over. He put the lab results up and examined them. His told me he had bad news.
They found I was antibiotic resistant to even the strongest ones. That was a shocker. Nothing I could do but just dress the open sore that was bleeding all the time. This was several months ago. By then I was in bad shape and rarely venturing out of my room.
There is no treatment for this in the US, in fact anywhere but Russia and the Republic of Georgia, near Russia. It is called Phage Therapy. It is really quite simple, and effective. They use one type of predatory bacteria to kill off the ones that are causing infections in humans. I would get injections of those.
To cover the travel and therapy costs is the purpose of this campaign.
