Nationals / Jr World Championships

Hi everyone! My name is Austin White, I am 18 years old, and I live in Oyama, BC. I attend french immersion for my grade 12 year at KSS with a straight "A" average. At the same time, I compete across the world on various international circuits with the BC Snowboard Cross Team. I also hold down a part-time job working with children at a gymnastics facility.

This past season, I have had exceptional results on the NorAm circuit, which lead me to be 1 of 6 Canadian male athletes selected to compete in the Jr World Championships. This is taking place in Rogla, Slovenia, on March 30th - April 7th. I plan on tying this competition in with Canadian Nationals, which are taking place in Quebec on March 21st to March 26th. From Quebec I am flying directly into Europe for Jr World's.

These are all self-funded competitions, so all money raised will go directly to travel expenses, coaching fees, entry and training fees, lodging and lift tickets. The trip in its entirety will cost approximately $7000 and will last 3 weeks. My parents have been incredibly supportive, and thus far we have not had to look into sponsorships and donations, but with this trip comes exceptional expenses and the time has come to start looking for extra support.

I fly out from Kelowna on Monday, the 21st of March, final invoices for these competitions will be arrivng end of April, which gives me around a month and a week to get together the necessary funds.

Competing on an international circuit is a dream of mine, and these competitions mark the next step of my snowboard cross career. National coaches look at results from these races in order to help make their team selections, which is why it is so important to participate in these events.

Sport and competition is my life, and I cannot put into words how grateful I am to be able to do what I do. With everyone's help, I can continue to compete and excel in a sport that I love.
