This is for my little cousin Aurora. She is only 2 and has been diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia. We just found out on Christmas Eve. Aurora's mom and dad, Charlene and Nick Thayse, could use some help with medical costs as this treatment will be long and costly for them. They also will need help with living expensenses as they have another little girl at home waiting to have her sister back. She will start treatments as soon as Tuesday Dec. 26th and will be in the hospital for 6 months so their needs are urgent. Please consider helping this adorably sweet girl. We all love her so very much.

Thank you so much for all your support through these rough 6 months. Rory's numbers were 566 today!! This gives her the green light to go home. She will be staying one more night at the Ronald McDonald house due to pain from the bone marrow check.
Please keep praying for Rory and for her family as they switch their schedules and go home. This transition will be hard for them, but God is good and will provide all their needs as well as love, guidance and peace. Thank you again from all her family who love Rory and Noelle very much.

3 nights ago, Aurora spiked a fever at 4 am. The nurses drew blood cultures and they came back positive for a Gram Negative Bacterial infection. The good news: So far this infection hasn't been nearly as bad as the last. She's has stopped fevering, and the fevers she did have weren't as high and responded well to the tylenol. The Bad News: The antibiotics will have run the course on IV for at least 14 days. Which means at least another 2 weeks in the hospital for Rory. She is not having it, and is letting us know about it! Rory now fights just about every vital check, her oral medications she has to take 3 times a day, and just plainly is kantankerous! She has never thrown full on tantrums like this before! I don't blame her. But it is very difficult, and taxing on Charlene and I. Also, the current antibiotics they are treating this infection with can suppress the bone marrow, which will keep her at zero immune system even longer. Even more time to get another infection. Our oncology team is going to pow-wow with the infectious disease team today and try to find a better antibiotic solution. Either way the infection is going to hinder her ANC (immune system) production.
This all means we're going to be about a month behind schedule at best, and were just praying the infection doesn't get worse. And no other infections happen. This is all very trying on our joy, faith, sleep, patience, and sanity. To top things off, just before all this happened, Rory pinched her finger between her new Frozen bike handle and the wall. This was when her platelets were at their lowest and now she has a very tender purple finger that is constantly being iced and needing pain meds the last 3 days. Lots of doctors have taken a look at it at the Osteo docs said it will probably take a couple weeks to fully heal.
Pray for the Peace that passes understanding. I need it.

Yesterday was Rory's 3rd birthday. She had a great day with her family at the hospital.
She is doing so well right now. She has finished her last chemo and is just waiting for her numbers to reach 200 then she can go home for good. We are all so proud of Rory during these months.

Rory was admitted to the hospital yesterday for her 5th and final round of chemo! Yay!
But, this is the strongest chemo she will get and it hit her fast. She has already been nauseous and has spiked a fever. She is just overall not feeling good & is not happy to be here! She really enjoyed the week break we got from the hospital though and got to play outside and run free
