Atlantis's Recovery

Donation protected
A month ago I was enjoying a vacation with my dad at the Atlantis in Bahamas where I came across a beautiful dog that was roaming the  property. Of course, since I am a huge animal lover I followed her that night for 3 hours and the next 2 days (petting her and  feeding her.) She was such a sweetheart, I loved her immediately and I knew I needed to give her the home she deserves.  I called the Humane Society every time I was with her in hopes they would be able to come at that time, however with the overcapacity of animals they weren't able to make it.

On the last day of my trip I woke up early to go find her with my dad. She was roaming outside of the resort property. I came prepared with a leash that morning and by fate we found her. Minutes later there was a local resident who threatened my father and I that we must leave this dog alone and not help her. Minutes later the cops showed up so me and my dad were forced to leave.I was hysterical shedding tears the whole plane home, but I knew I was not giving up on her.

Ever since then, I haven't stopped thinking about her. I talked to many volunteers at the Bahamas Humane Society each and every day who assisted in creating a Facebook page for her awareness. We posted photos and information about her. After a few days of constant communication back and forth to them, a tourist who happened to be friendly with some of the volunteers found her with a huge gage on her neck. A K-9 Unit employed by the Atlantis Resort picked up Atlantis and promised the tourist they would take her to the Humane Society. Well, that was a lie and they actually took her to the pound immediately.

The tourist immediately contacted her friends at the Humane Society, where she discovered that the K-9 unit never took her there. The Humane Society went to the pound to pick up Atlantis the next morning and they stitched up the wound on her neck and gave her all of the shots required to make her a healthy pup.

Long story short, after all of this dedication and hard work from everybody I get to adopt Atlantis and give her the best life that she deserves!

Thursday morning this week my dad and I are flying to Florida to pick up Atlantis who is getting flown on a private plane with the help of an amazing couple who I connected with through the Humane Society and the same tourist who found her. We are renting a car in Florida and are driving back to New Jersey with her to give her a forever home.

If anyone would like to contribute to the journey (the flight, the bill from the humane society, the vet bill when she arrives) which is solely funded by me, it would be greatly appreciated. Regardless I am so thrilled to share this story and miracle to happen to me.
