Assistance for Jackie and Jim S.

On February 3, 2017, just two days into their first vacation in 15 years, Jackie and Jim were involved in a major car accident. Both sustained serious injuries to their cervical spine (neck) and lumbar spines (back).
Neither Jackie nor Jim are able to work at this time as they are classified as completely disabled. The doctors estimate recovery time as a minimum of 4-6 months, but of course, cannot guarantee full recovery from their injuries, or if any at all.
Jackie is on a leave of absence from work, and her job is protected under FMLA, but Jim's job is not protected at all, as he did not have a year in yet with his employer to qualify.
They are now a full month into their recovery, with very little to no improvement in their condition. They religiously attend physical therapy 3 times per week, with dogged determination to overcome their disabilities.
Since neither are able to work at this time, there has been very little income to support their household of 4. Both do collect short term disability through their employment, however, the income is only a small fraction of their regular earnings, and not enough to meet all obligations.
To date, none of the insurance companies are accepting responsibility, so nothing is getting paid at all, including medical bills and loss of wages for Jackie and Jim to live on. The medical bills are quickly approaching the $20,000 mark, and everyday life and it's expenses has devastated their finances. To top everything off, their health insurance is at risk because they cannot afford to pay their premiums without any income.
To be quite honest, Jackie and Jim are not accustomed to being in need, and have always been the kind of people that give on a continuous basis. They are certainly proof that bad things do happen to good people.
