It’s not easy being the middle sister of the dynamic trio known as the Shell Girls!
Meet little Miss Ashlyn- the middle sister who fiercely protects her loved ones and has embodied a quiet strength since her birth! Within her first year of life, her strength was truly recognized when she was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia Hemoglobin after a frightening severe crisis.
We are calling on our village and beyond to help the Shell Family as they navigate non- stop visits to the hospital, a long list of hospital fees, child care arrangements for her sisters and all of the financial obligations that will continue to pile with this process. Their family is called to be ever present at the hospital, forcing one parent to be unable to work and two sisters to care for during this time.
THE STORY
Over the last two and half years of her life, Ashlyn has had multiple crises and in an effort to allow this little warrior a true chance at life, her family has made the ultimate sacrifice of relocating to the low country for Ashlyn’s bone marrow transplant which could ultimately save her life.
Her bone marrow match? Her big sister, Alayna. The path to surgery will begin next month, March 2019.
As you can imagine this journey will be long, tedious and has required several changes for the Shell family to consider. Over the course of the transplant process, both Ashlyn and Alayna will be hospitalized. Ashlyn specifically will be spending 2-4 months at MUSC recovering from the transplant.
We appreciate all of your support during this time. Every contribution is a blessing going directly to the Shell Family, so anything you can provide is a wonderful gift towards our Aspirations for Ash.
