Help Prevent Another Suicide

How can this beautiful, healthy, smart college student named Ashley, be on the verge of suicide when she should be enjoying her senior year of college?

Ashley is currently in the hospital for the third time with severe depression and suicidal tendencies and is in need of long-term care to heal. Her mother, Julie, is a close friend and cannot afford the long term treatment needed to handle Ashley’s condition, and behavioral illness insurance is abysmal. Ashley’s dad died when she was 4 years old and her mother, Juli,e is recovering from Leukemia herself.

I’m Jamie, a very close friend of the family. Any amount you can give is a help as treatment is so expensive! and will go directly to pay for Ashley’s pending intake at The Lindner Center for Hope in Ohio. I have known Ashley since she was a baby and my heart breaks to see her like this. The Freemans and my family were part of the same church parish growing up and we spent many Sundays together over the past 20 years. We also watched in horror as 6 families close to us and our kids buried their children inside of a 4 year span due to suicide.
I don’t know why this has become such a huge problem with young people today, but I feel like each kid that makes it through this challenge, can help numerous others faced with similar challenges.

Prior to Ashley being afflicted with severe anxiety and depression and suicidal ideation, she was the one whom friends would call upon when needing support. She always presented with a smile, a lending hand and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life – gardening, making her own non-toxic skincare products and assisting with causes such as “Protect Our Breasts” and the “Beekeepers Club” at University of Massachusetts.

Lindsay, Ashley’s sister, would often call Ashley her “pocket mom”, because Ashley knew and loved practical aspects of homecare – sewing, cooking, balancing the budget. She loved remembering her Grammy, who taught her how to sew and how to maintain a neat and orderly home.

The family needs to raise $60,000 for immediate hospital and residential treatment and another $40,000 for a re-integration program (Onsite Program for Trauma Recovery, Milestones, TN and
Windhorse Community Services, Therapeutic Services, Boulder, CO). Any support that you can offer is so greatly appreciated – Ashley has many gifts for helping to heal others, but first, she needs to heal the childhood traumas and wounds that are threatening to take her life away.
