Hi! My name is Ashleigh Brown. I'm a junior studying at CUNY York college with a major in journalism & a minor in marketing. At York, I am the online editor of my schools newspaper, Pandora's Box and a dean's list student. In my spare time, I volunteer at White Plains library where I put on programs for teenagers and also maintain my blog called TheFeastOfFashion.blogspot.com where I provide fashion, beauty and lifestyle tips for college students on a budget. My ultimate goal is to become a social media marketing manager at a notible fashion publication one day.
I'm currently in the process of trying to study abroad in England this summer from June 8th-July 1st 2018. Studying abroad has always been a goal of mine to do in college but I never believed I could or had the funds to study internationally. I will be attending Roehampton University in London where I will be there for a month studying different media and creative industries in this culturally rich city. In England, I will be a student in their media, culture and language department studying how the media affects London's art & culture scene.
My England experience will be a mixture of class based sessions and visits to museums, galleries, and other educational programs. I hope to gain more knowledge on London's newspaper industry and be able to present my research to people who believe studying abroad isn't an option for them.
When I transferred back to York back in 2017 after taking a year and a half off, I was considered an independent student where I pay my tuition, commute and extra curriculars all out of pocket without any financial support. I went through some hardships and had to take some time off to deal with some personal and family issues. I learned from my mistakes & hope to be able to raise enough money to cover the program itself and airfare which are both $1500 each. I'm not one to ask for help, but I wouldn't ask if I didn't need it.
I am very appreciative of any amount of money you decide to fund me with, no matter how big or how small. Every little bit helps, and I am so grateful for whatever I receive. Thank you so much in advance. I am very willing to meet or talk about my goals for this trip. I promise to make you proud and happy if you choose to fund me. (:
