Arthur Smith's end of life costs

A few weeks ago my siblings and I received a phone call that would shake us to the core. Our dad had suffered a stroke . We all raced to the hospital as fast as we could. My dad seemed in good spirits despite having some weakness and a bit of slurred speech. The doctors had even made plans for him to go to rehab. Unfortunately my dad then suffered 3 more strokes right before he was to go to the rehab floor. He started to decline then and showed more signs of weakness this time on both sides of his body and even more difficulty speaking. He was moved to the ICU due to some difficulty breathing and was getting nauseous to the point of not eating. The Drs had to put a NG tube in. The hard part was he was declining before our eyes. We noticed even more difficulty breathing and after chest X-rays were taken it showed he had pneumonia. After careful consideration, it was decided he needed a breathing tube put in. As the days progressed, our father continued to decline and the doctors were at the point they didn't think they could do anything more. They asked us if we might consider transferring our father to a bigger facility with specialists on hand. As a family we decided that would be the best course of action, even though our father would be farther away from us.  Our dad has had various tests to rule out and test for why he has been continuing to decline. After his latest MRI, it was shown that he didn't have just the 4 strokes we knew about. He has been continuing to have strokes. So many that the Drs can't count them all. The prognosis is grim as we were told our father has no chance of recovery. Basically the breathing tube he has in is keeping him alive. We have made the difficult decision to not have him kept hooked up to machines. Our dad would not have wanted that. Our sincerest hope is that our dad will wake up and recovery fully. We in our heads know that isn't possible but our hearts hope.  Everyone who knows him knows how proud he was when he bought his house and his truck. We don't want to lose those as our dad didn't have a will. As such we now have to plan for a funeral for a great man. We need help with funeral expenses, medical expenses and helping to keep his home, valuables and his truck. We have been working overtime trying to get his affairs in order. We are trying our hardest to keep up with his finances. Unfortunately we have just been met with roadblock after roadblock. We don't want to lose anything our dad worked so hard for due to funeral and medical expenses. Any amount that you can donate is greatly appreciated. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers.
