Art Miles Mural Project

$9,895 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 35 people in 8 months

This GoFundME was created for the Art Miles Mural Project.

Urgent Funds to Benefit:  More than 500 clients and participants in mural projects that heal and provide activities for disadvantaged children, students, wounded warriors, local service personnel, several refugees, incarcerated youth, developmentally disabled, clients, and the need for minimal payment for instructors and cost of materials urgently needed (canvas, paint, brushes).

We are extremely grateful for any and all donations that will be given.  These will help keep the project alive and continue to share the beauty and healing power of Art.

ART MILES is a PROJECT of Passion and Healing, and when we work with schools in countries throughout the world, whether they are in dirt floored huts in villages, or the most modern facilities one could dream of, ART MILES is there to help art teachers incorporate art into curriculum, including environmental and technology studies, which enhances the students learning despite the lack of funding for arts in most. Moreover, ART MILES is a Passionate Project that wants to see everyone having fun, coming together, learning about each others culture and traditions which can only result in learning respect and understanding that we are ONE HUMAN FAMILY.

Art Miles represent visual messages of Hope and Love and Healing!

Rose out of the need and growing need to bring people together in support of a Culture of Peace versus a Culture of Violence
Happened through the eyes of and from the hearts of CHILDREN that grew up to include adults!
The Art Miles Mural Project with now nearly 5,000 murals painted by over ½ million people from more than 100 countries all addressing social issue themes.

To GoFundMe Supporters:
Your donations thus far have saved the Muramid Mural Museum and helped us acquire a new home that we hope to open before the end of 2017. It is critical to have a home to accommodate our ever increasing workload with educational institutions and organizations and healing murals we create in response to human and natural disasters.
Just knowing that many of us care about victims, survivors, families, neighbors and friends of disasters, like recent events in Florida, Texas, Mexico, Puerto Rico, North Carolina and Las Vegas. Shootings, Hurricanes and Earthquakes have plagued our globe this past six months and Art Miles Mural Project has rallied to send messages of hope and healing with our twenty-two year- old Art Miles Mural Project murals. These graphic messages are sent and delivered directly to towns, cities and personnel wherever these tragic events occur. The responses are phenomenal with letters from Mayors and families and private citizens stating how much our thoughtfulness has meant to them.
Call to Action:
We still need your generous donations and continuing support to help with our move to the new facility which is truly phenomenal with great kharma and healing properties located near the Old Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside. PLEASE help us heal the spirits of so many thousands of people whose hearts are hurting and to continue our outreach services to developmentally disabled individuals, veterans, juvenile justice involved teens, and children and families in need.
Your gift/donation directly to this GoFundMe account will help us procure materials needed to convert a current restroom facility to an ADA Certified one, and required by law to accommodate handicapped individuals. Donations will also help us provide canvas, paint, brushes and materials that are needed to ensure that the expressions and creativity of those who “share what’s in their hearts”, are enabled to reach out and touch others in need; our way of bringing people together in support of the Culture of Peace. Each mural basic costs are between $150-$250 depending on size so every penny raised is a huge help and ensure we are able to provide that kind of support to those who cannot afford the cost of materials. All of our staff and artists donate their time to help with this project!
Thank you for your attention and please feel free to contact me, Joanne Tawfilis at JTawfilis@aol.com or muramidmuseum@gmail.com with any questions you may have. Your financial or material donations (tile, flooring, wall paint, plumbing fixtures) will ensure that we are able to paint murals with at least 2,000 children and youth in the coming year and put us over our goal of $20,000 before December 31, 2017. Thank you from the Art Miles Mural Project All-Volunteer team and staff of the Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center.

It will be a month or so while we renovate to dedicate an amazing legacy of Art Miles Murals to share with the world. We are working closing with schools and organizations in response to so many human and natural disasters and need your continuing support to move forward! Dear Friends, Artists, Poets, Performers and Followers of Art Miles Mural Project and the Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center:
For many years, we have served the local and global community with a 100% all-volunteer staff and there are many of us that are too numerous to thank individually...people like Atsuko and Yasu, Fauzia, Guiseppe, Maria Bader, Jill, Jeanne and My Hero, Ally, Weldon, Marenn, Caymin, Sayuri, Marilyn H., Shannon, Arlene, Louise, Valerie, Aki, Seven, and Makeda, Anna, Mario...omg...way too many to mention as I said...but we need your help now to keep the project moving forward in the museum and beyond as we try to monetize our project to be self-sustaining.

This project started in 1995 22 years ago today....when 10,000 men and boys disappeared from a UN protected village of Srebrenica...a year later, I was sent to Bosnia to work with the widows of the missing men and after a time, began to get so depressed with hearing and seeing the experiences of these amazing women and was advised to utilize my artistic skills by working with children in an orphanage...that's when Fouad and my life changed. Over 350 children from all three entities painted the first mural on a bullet riddled bed sheet...the theme, was Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow...and now, nearly 5,000 murals later with no overhead financial support and a 100% all-volunteer staff, we have pursued our objectives with vigor to promote and support the Culture of Peace through mural arts. Art Miles works...we respond to nearly all local and global human and natural disasters...we all need healing even when we are mere witnesses to the news reports of these disasters....so please, help us keep this going...we are seeking ways to monitize the project with the art that can sustain us and also give back to the community.

Please, on behalf of all we serve, do reach out to all your family and friends, and ask that they give thought and open their hearts to donating any amount because if everyone jumps in to support us...$1,$5 and more will add up and get us where we need to be....With all the human and natural disasters in the world, we can, as always help heal the world!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
