Hey Internet! (Friends, family, and kind strangers!)
My name's Julia. I'm about to graduate with a BFA in Illustration & Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Those of you that know me personally also know that I work tirelessly to improve my skills, my art, and myself.
I'm reaching out to you all because I have an amazing opportunity to go to Florence, Italy for a whole a month through a school program for artistic and cultural immersion. I'd be painting and drawing the ghosts of the Renaissance, an invaluable opportunity for a young artist and art historian. I don't know another point in my life where I'll have this sort of limbo between school and full time employment (unlike Europe, we only get two weeks of vacation time a year!)
Surviving in NYC can get pretty pricey, and after this past year of medical expenses for a torn disc in my lower spine, the Bank of Julia is not as full as it once was. That being said, I try to never let my finances get in the way of my life opportunities.
Like the Renaissance artists of old, who all had patrons supporting their work, I’m calling on my community to help me fundraise for this adventure. All contributions will support the program costs and artist supplies.
As thanks for your support, anyone who donates will be gifted a high-resolution artist print of one of my pieces from the trip. Humans that donate higher amounts will also be gifted a high-res artist print of my final painting from the trip. A select few who are OUT OF THIS WORLD generous will be given a surprise creation which will be determined after my trip (oooooo mystery!).
Seriously, even a $5 dollar donation makes a difference.
Even if you yourself can't donate at this time, I'd really love if you could spread this around.
