This is an appeal to assist an NGO that helps the disabled in Lori province, Armenia find permanent space.  Their mission is to help disabled persons gain independence and some measure of hope.  The free space that they were able to find was sold.  Now they are trying to find a permanent space in Vanadzor - province of Lori that would be used as their center of operations.  A property in that region can be purchased for $15,000.

Dear Friends,
I am late in reporting on the successful completion of the project that we started back in August 2018 to secure a permanent facility for Equal Rights Equal Opportunities NGO in Vanadzor, Armenia. The success of the project belongs to all of you who responded to the appeal.

It started as an appeal from Tim Straight – An Armenian by choice living and working with forgotten communities in Armenia for the past 18 years. See his interview with Salpi Ghazarian here: https://youtu.be/R1JpcGIpTog. Soon after the start of the campaign, George Keushgerian founder and CEO of http://www.twinpeaks.net/ joined with a major contribution to purchase the property located in Tumanyan 9a St. in Vanadzor and lease it to EREO for 10 years at zero dollars.

On December 26, I traveled to Armenia and met up with Tim Straight and took a taxi to Vanadzor to transfer the funds you donated. The funds will be used to build a wheelchair ramp, install a heating system, new windows, wider doors, wheelchair accessible toilet and hopefully a handicap accessible playscape.

Clearly, they EREO members were very excited about their new facility. Although there was no central heating, they made do with a couple of space heaters that moved from room to room depending where most people congregated. They invited us to celebrate New Year / Christmas. They sang, they danced, they smiled. Even Kamo the young man with arthrogryposis(?) who uses a walker, stood up to dance as best as his fragile body would allow.

They now have enough space to run their modest business and earn enough money to sustain their enterprise.

Here is one of their coffee cups sold at Homeland Development Initiative Foundation (HDIF) on Parepts 13 street in Yerevan. If you are in Yerevan be sure to stop and see what else is sold by HDIF that creates sustainable jobs in Armenia.

Dear friends, I hope to start a new project in 2019 focusing on entrepreneurship by helping an initiative, that get little attention because of its size or location, especially in remote villages. The aim will be to help the social enterprise work and earn money to sustain itself, and not to simply grant money to survive.

Bless you all.

Dear Friends.

I am very happy to report that EREO found a suitable property, a 77 square meter (about 800 square feet) ground floor office space on Tumanyan 9a street in Vanadzor priced at $22,000. More than what we had planned to collect. Fortunately, an angel stepped in to help. Soon after we started the fund-raising campaign for EREO. George Keushgerian of Pasadena, California, USA, CEO of TwinPeaks On Line a software company with a development team of programmers in Yerevan, Armenia contacted us to say that he was prepared to purchase the property and lease it for 10 years free of charge. He also suggested that we continue the fundraising and use the money raised to upgrade the property, to make it accessible to the disabled by building a ramp and other improvements.

Guess what? This past Saturday George flew to Armenia and traveled to Vanadzor with one of his Yerevan employees and made his promise a reality.

One photo shows George with EREO board members (L to R) Artak Aloyan, Anush Aslanyan, and Anush Arakelian. The plaque reads: To George Keushgerian with great love and respect from EREO NGO. The other photo is in front of Toumanian 9a, Vanadzor - EREO’s new and permanent home. There will be a ramp from where they stand that will go up through the balcony.

You guys rock. Thank you for making this a success. Any money left after all improvements will be placed in a bank for the future. This far exceeded anyone’s expectation.

Armenia is finally getting its footing in the modern world. More than ever it is time to help and show support by investing in Armenia and helping NGOs such as EREO be more effective in helping others. Like Tim Straight says: Roll up your sleeves, we have a country to build. You certainly did roll up your sleeves.

On behalf of EREO, Tim and me a big thank you for your generous support.
