The early bird gets the worm! Any contributions made here will be credited directly toward the purchase of a 2019 CSA share - a portion of our farm harvest - to include veggies, a selection of proteins, and fresh eggs. Full shares will be priced between $750-$1150, depending on the items chosen and whether or not you choose a share including meat. Half- and quarter-shares will also be available. Our season runs for 22 weeks beginning in June. More details to follow!
Arley Farms was founded in 2014 by Jon and Amanda Baker - accidental farmers who fell in love with a piece of property, and saw it as a beautiful place to raise their family.
Over the past 4 years, we’ve received tremendous support from the local community as we’ve worked through the process of restoring our original 16 acre parcel to the “working farm” it once was. In 2016, we needed additional space and entered into a long-terms lease for an adjoining 16 acres, which included an old dairy barn in need of some serious TLC in order to preserve the structure. Two years later, Arley Farms is now home to a herd of miniature donkeys, 2 separate flocks of sheep (one for wool, the other for meat), Berkshire pigs, turkeys, and approximately 75 egg-laying and roasting chickens. We’re looking forward to expanding to an additional 49 acres this Fall - together with our new partners, Andy and Allyson Rose - adding a herd of heritage-breed beef cattle to our operation this October, and an array of produce in the Spring of 2019.
And so, after 4 years, a LOT of sweat, and an equally astonishing amount of money spent, Arley Farms is finally positioned to be a local and sustainable source of all-natural food for individuals and families throughout the area.
BUT (you knew that was coming) we’ve learned the hard way that doing things “right” the first time and developing a plan for a sustainable and environmentally-friendly operation comes at a substantial cost. To kick off our 2019 Community Supported Agriculture program, we need your help!
For anyone not interested in a full or partial CSA share, a contribution of $50 or more before September 27 gets you a complimentary 10x20 space at our first Annual Fall Festival, to be held at the farm on October 6. Contributors will be able to promote their business, while helping us to provide the highest quality “homegrown” food for them and their families.
With “intensive” farming operations focused on one product and maximum profit becoming the norm, we strive to be the “old fashioned” neighborhood farm that gives you peace of mind knowing where your food comes from, and that it was well cared for “from farm to table.”
