Ariel is a 2 year old girl, mountain city native who had had been in an accident Friday March 15th. She was playing outside with one of her brothers yesterday afternoon on the slide behind their home, and was hit on the right side of her head with a stray bullet from somewhere in the wooded area of laurel.  Her brother went to get her father, and Ariel had walked from the slide to the front steps and then collapsed. Her father got her in the vehicle and went straight to Johnson County EMS where they took it from there. She was flown to Johnson City Medical Center and then Knoxville Children's Hospital. As of Saturday morning, It was still in there, and it has caused extensive damage to the back of her brain. Saturday they kept her sedated, and asked for no stimulation or noise to try and help the swelling in her brain stay down. It stayed low Saturday. She kept trying to wake herself up, her pupils we're dilating and she was responding to pain, and touch; which is a good thing. They let her rest maintaing the swelling and her vitals. They scheduled a CT for Sunday morning.

It showed that a piece of the bullet did hit the right back side of her head, fractured and penetrated her. When that happened it severed an artery causing extensive damage. She ended up having a stroke, and that being said she has no function or blood flow to the trama area. They are trying to keep vitals maintained and swelling down, but the swelling and pressure in her head has went very very high. They were trying to keep it down by medicine, and other ways to avoid any kind of surgery as of now, because of the trama, but it went to a point where surgery is inevitable. They just took her down into a 2 or more hour surgery to place a drain in the functioning side of her brain, and removing a piece of her skull on the right side to subside pressure. Are worries with that are bleeding, and how she reacts in that surgery.  That's where we are at now. Will update as soon as I know more. Your prayers, calls, and outpours to my family have been absolutely amazing. Please keep them coming. She has already proved she's so strong and we have many plans for that little girl, so we have plenty of faith that the Lord is going to work in his way. Again thank y'all so much.

This is Ariels Aunt, Stephanie, her mother and father have of course decided to stay with her.  Her two younger brothers are coming home with their grandparents which is about 3 hours away from the hospital. They are currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Ariels medical expenses are paid, but there is travel expenses, food expenses and Ariels mom and dad are now out of work until they can take their little girl home with them.  Any help toward that family would be a great blessing. We again appreciate all the phone calls, prayers and anything else anyone can do.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Update! Ariel had a good night. Her ICP is staying low, she is managing her own blood pressure, and they have her 12 weaned off the sedation. I was told this morning that she's moving around a little, coughing, getting kinda aggravated and she has started to breath OVER the ventilator a little bit. Which is AMAZING! Again we won't know the extent of what this effected until she fully wakes up. Praise the lord!

Ariels ICP is still down and they are weaning her off of the sedation medicine. Her bowels are moving and where it was flatined on the right side of the brain for the activity, there is very little on that side now!!! God is working! Her color is great, still swollen and we hope she remains stable after the sedation starts wearing off. Praise the Lord!! we will not know the extent of anything until she wakes up, but we are hoping for the best. We have stopped the go fund me donations, and want to thank each person who helped this family. They will be forver grateful and they have the means to eat, travel, pay bills and stay with their daughter. God bless you.

On behalf of my sister Christina, Ariel is still in stable condition. Because of the pressure on her brain they decided to do an EEG on her. It showed the right side has little to none activity, and the left side has some. They gave her medication to try to increase the left side oh, and try to improve her rights of survival. As of now anything that happens is really up to her. We appreciate each and every one of your donations, anything that you did whether it was small or big. You don't understand what it means to us we are at a loss for words, we are so humbled and blessed. God is so good to us and he has been working and will continue to work, we have faith that whatever his will, will be. Again thank you all for everything you're doing for our family. This is Stephanie, I am Ariel's aunt and Christina is my sister oh, and I can tell you she is unbelievably at a loss for words like most of us are. Again thank you all so much and keep praying.
