Education Changes The Future
Donation protected
Did you know that more than a quarter of Ecuador’s population suffer from chronic malnutrition, and more than half of Ecuador’s indigenous population live in poverty? Even worse… 70% of the world’s poor and illiterate are women and girls!
Many of us living in the west are in a position to help these people. People now agree that most, if not all of the world’s problems, are a consequence of the lack of education.
It is proven that if you support the education of a girl/woman this will have a very strong effect on women’s fertility rates and the health of their children. Being educated means they can get a job, or even in many cases, start up their own micro business.
For example, in Ecuador, they have support for girls/young women to make traditional items such as jewellery. This in turn means they can pay for the basics in life, such as food, health care and clean water. This means they directly benefit from and begin to know the value of education.
In turn, this educated mother or father will now give the gift of education to their children, and in turn they too will pass this on to theirs. Yet we didn’t do a thing, other than provide the funding, environment, and encouragement for ONE young person to be educated! Brilliant!!
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Before I ask you for your help, let me tell you what I’m doing. You can watch my video on this link https://youtu.be/pJwe4G_h9gI
About 20 school friends and I are working under the umbrella of World Challenge to help local communities in Ecuador in the summer of 2016. Each volunteer needs to raise £4000 to cover the cost of the trip and support the funding of the project for the four weeks we will be working there. We will also be leaving money with the local community to continue the project after we leave.
I will also be working with and raising money for a UK charity called Reading Quest - http://www.readingquest.org.uk/ . This charity promotes literacy and numeracy here in the UK. In a 2014 research study it was revealed that 38% of children who are eligible for free school meals only reach the minimum of C grade in literacy and numeracy.
As part of this project, I am raising money and working on a number of activities to promote and raise money for Reading Quest in local schools here in the UK.
So please help me reach my £4,000 target by donating on my website if you feel I have moved you in any way. It will take you 2 minutes and the impact will last forever.
Click on the red ‘donate now’ button on the top right of this webpage. Every pound helps and will be massively appreciated by the communities we’re trying to support in the UK and in Ecuador.
If you want to be super supportive, please forward this link to family, friends and other contacts you think would be interested in supporting this project. Use the Social Media icons to pass this message on.
I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about my project. Ardan.
