Aquariums in Classrooms

Hi! My name's Annabelle Melton and I've recently launched a project called Aquariums in Classrooms. The goal of  Aquariums in Classrooms is to introduce freshwater fish tanks to learning environments in our community to create a more immersive and positive educational  experience. With your help, we will be installing our first aquariums this winter at Amboy Middle School!

While we all know that hands-on and interactive activities are the better way to learn, you may not know of the calming effects that aquariums can have on students with anxiety, hyper-active disorders, and autism. They can relieve negative emotions and stress, and increase a sense of productivity and responsibility in the students who aid with maintenance. Teachers will also benefit from their classroom aquarium. The educational opportunities are unlimited, stretching across topics such as reproduction and genetics to the nitrogen cycle and pH levels.

Your donation to this volunteer and community-based project will go towards the purchase of materials including, but not limited to, filters, hoods, siphons, chemical adjusters, artificial and live plants, aquarium decor, fish food, and Amboy's new fishy friends! This is something that absolutely could not be done without the wonderful, generous people in this community, and I cannot wait to make this positive impact on students for years to come.
