Appeal for £5: I'm getting evicted!

Rodney is a 77 year old veteran who has been told by Santander bank that they want him out of his house by the end of January unless he pays them £55,000.
With the credit crunch taking away his savings and facing age discrimination in his continuing search for any meaningful employment, he has still been trying by himself to resolve the sickening worry he has about the Santander situation. His age is also against him for any form of re-mortgaging (his 77th birthday was this month). He only has his state pension and a small ex-serviceman’s pension. There is no other borrowing on the house.
Earlier this year he was diagnosed as having a serious heart condition, identified by the Cardiologist at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. Rodney’s first wife died of a brain tumour and his second wife passed away with Muscular Dystrophy over 20 years ago. Rodney has spent considerable time, and his limited resources, in supporting and caring for his family and the welfare of his daughter, now 47, who also suffers from Muscular Dystrophy and Diabetes and has learning difficulties.
Santander are pressing for his eviction so as to sell the house at auction just to recover the amount outstanding on their books. They went to Nottingham Magistrate’s Court in August to obtain a Possession Order, but backed off from enforcing it following the judge’s request for media coverage in the Nottingham Post! Santander now want him out by the end of next month, unless through crowdfunding together we can raise the £55,000, with no expectation of reward other than his abiding thanks and heartfelt gratitude.
Rodney hasn’t had an easy life, spending most of it caring for his family and serving his country. It would wonderful if he could receive the best birthday present of all - and a much less stressful Christmas - knowing that his home won’t be taken from him by Santander bank.
