Suicide Prevention Short Film

Late one sleepless night, I sat up in bed, and started to write. Two hours later, I had 15 pages of a screenplay that told the story of someone's suicide, and the consequences thereafter. It shows what happens after someone dies, and the effects it has on the people closest to them.

After I wrote the script, I began showing it to some people close to me. They really liked the script, which made me feel confident in showing it to several professional screen writers. The feedback I got was extremely positive, and I was encouraged to make the film.

Since then, I have been working hard getting people involved.

As of right now, we have 15 crew members, ranging from students, to professional make-up artists and videographers on board to make the film happen. We have access to a very nice camera, and will be able to film in very high definition. While we do have some recording equipment and lights, we hope to be able to rent out some additional equipment to make the film as professionally produced, and as high quality as possible.

We also have a cast of 9 actors, all of whom are ready to rehearse and put on strong performances. Some are local to where the shoot is happening (Upstate NY) while others are traveling from the city.

The funding for this project is going to help dress the sets, obtain high quality equipment, feed the crew and the actors, pay for travel expenses and go into post production. Any additional funds will go to submitting for film festivals and promoting the film.

Suicide is an epidemic in our country -- a taboo subject that is hard to approach. But we have to talk about it if we want things to get better. Please help us spread our message.
