Annika has been a vibrant part of the Woodland Montessori School for over 5 years. Through those years her classmates have come to know her as a friend with a great sense of humor, a lot of spunk, and a healthy dose of sass.
This summer Annika received a new wheelchair that is pretty fantastic. Annika's body is positioned just right in this chair, allowing her to interact well with her peers and communicate with her eye-gaze computer. She loves to tell us jokes and cracks herself (and her friends) up with her rambling stories and oh so "funny" six-year-old humor.
The down side to this new chair is that it is much larger than her last, and can no longer be transported in her family's van without the addition of a ramp. As such, Annika's family has not been able to move her walker and wheelchair at the same time. Annika has only been able to move around in her walker while at school and has not had the same freedom of mobility at home that she once did.
This summer her classmates decided they needed to jump in and help out! They started this whole fundraising idea and have worked hard to kick off a fundraiser to get a new wheelchair accessible van for Annika and her family.
It is so apparent how loved Annika is among her classmates. She brings so much joy, laughter, and light into our lives. The community around this amazing kid is rallying to get this family into a vehicle that will allow them to travel together along with the equipment Annika needs to lead a healthy and vibrant life.
This beautiful soul needs our support. Please consider a donation to support Annika and her family. It truly takes a village - and our village is so very fortunate to have been touched by such an amazing girl who inspires us all daily to work a little harder and be a little bit better.
This fundraiser is spearheaded by Woodland Montessori School with Annika's family as an integral part of the fundraising team. All money donated will be dispersed via Go Fund Me to Annika's family and will be used toward the purchase of a new wheelchair accessible van.
