Annie’s Cancer Crusade

Our little princess Annie graced us with her presence on 9-6-18.  A beautiful addition to our family, happy and the picture of perfect health. Weighing in at seven pounds 14 ounces . At three weeks old, she began projectile vomiting and had lost some weight. The doctors changed her formula, but the vomiting continued. By five weeks old she had lost an entire pound. Her doctors sent her to the emergency room for an ultrasound to diagnose pyloric stenosis, a routine ultrasound that would change our lives forever. The pyloric stenosis was diagnosed, a simple surgery would fix that. What the surgery wouldn’t fix is the neuroblastoma on her adrenal gland that had already matastasized to her liver. What were they saying? CANCER! Cancer, our tiny girl is only five weeks old, five!!! How is this even possible? In a crazy whirl she was transported to Mott's Children's Hospital for specialized treatment. Pokes, prods, tests and more tests. First things first, they did the pyloric stenosis surgery with success. She barely weighed seven pounds. Then the cancer tests started.... Holding my tiny granddaughter, trying to comfort her. She can’t eat for 12 hours, she doesn't understand, needles, machines, bells, whistles.... Heart wrenching, hardest thing I have ever done.  Cancer is ruthless. It doesn’t care if you have rent to pay, it doesn’t care if there is gas in your car when you have to make an impromptu trip 100 miles away.  It doesn’t care about medical expenses, co pays or prescriptions costs. It doesn’t care about the job you can no longer work. Cancer surely doesn't care if your family eats or your home has heat. The days and nights are long, the worries never go away. Annie has a sister, almost four, Izzy. Brother, two, Hugo. Since chemo has started, she doesn’t get to see them much because of germs, even a virus could be deadly to her frail, little body. Our third round of chemo starts at the end of December, as this is an aggressive form of cancer. Blood transfusions are also a normal thing now, the chemo affects hemoglobin levels, and at her age it’s so very important for growth. . Anything helps, whether monetary, prayers, or kind words. We send you all the love! ❤️❤️ You can can also follow our journey on Facebook  @AnniesWarriors From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
