$595 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 10 people in 3 months
Anita Woodley's Returns to Cameroon, Africa to Become a Notable of the Mountain and Ocean Regions!

WHAT NEEDS FUNDING?

Planned as early as December 2017, or as soon as the funds are raised, a rare honor will be bestowed on Anita Woodley, The African Princess Bekang of the Forest Tikar People. She will become the first women and American of African Descent to become a double King - “King of the Mountain People” and “King of the Ocean People” in two Cameroon regions.

“The returning of Bekang to receive the attribution, the power of King!”
-Bem Bong Binyoto, Shaman in the Cameroon Mountain

Due to the magnitude and reach of her life’s work as a Creative Health Education Speaker and Humanitarian Efforts concerning health care in the US and Cameroon, Anita has been chosen to receive the honor of being King.

“In Africa, we do not give titles due to your gender, it is by your works and what you do for the people. The King of our village and the Shamans have determined that you do the work of a King, a man, and not the work of just a Princess or a Queen.” - Prince Jean Michel Dissake Dissake, International Artist

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN AFRICA?

During the 21 day journey in Cameroon, from December 17, 2017 to January 7, 2018 Anita Woodley, an African Notable in the Nditam Tikar chiefdom known as Princess with the title of "Bekang", will learn the sacred rituals of her African ancestors.

Various teachers of ancient African culture from the Mountain and Ocean areas of Cameroon, will pass down to Anita the ancient language, naming ceremony traditions, cooking rituals, traditional dances, making and playing of instruments from the forest and more. The rite of passage for King will conclude with Anita being in isolation for 9 days to meditate and receive training about secret tribal ceremonies.

While in the Motherland, Anita Woodley will also facilitate an artistic workshop for locals and perform ceremonies taught to her as a child by her 100-year old great-grandmother.

For the past few months, a notable of the Mountain people of Cameroon has been preparing for Anita's arrival, making traditional clothing, spiritual items, and furniture for the King rite of passage ceremony.

The ocean portion of the ceremony will only be attempted, if the region is safe. If it is not, Anita will return in the summer of 2018, or another time when the area is safe, to complete the traditional ceremony to become King of the ocean people in that region.

WHY THIS FUNDRAISER MATTERS?

When Anita Princess Bekang returns from being named King to America, she will provide a public talk about the journey, make guest appearances in the school system as a notable African Royal and the general public, teach the traditional language, provide African naming ceremonies, teach cooking traditions and begin the ground work to create her own kingdoms in both Cameroon and America under the tutelage of notables in Cameroon.

In 2010, Anita reunited with the Tikar tribe in Cameroon, Africa, a meeting with her mother’s heritage.  There, Anita became Princess Bekang, or “boomerang,” in the Chiefdom of the rainforest N’ditam Tikar Village. Anita became the first African-American descendant since enslavement to return to the N’ditam Tikar village in the rainforest and she learned their native language.

Visit the Website of her Journey http://tikarcameroon.blogspot.com

She’s since assisted others to make their own trips back to Tikar villages to reconnect with their ancestral tribes and receive traditional African names. The stories of her journey aired worldwide on National Public Radio. Listen to the interview http://www.thestory.org/stories/2010-10/traveling-nditam

This journey would not be possible without your donations. Any amount is useful. Please share this with your connections, family and friends. Anita being named King helps the community and world abroad as well as she will be able to continue bridging the continental divide between Africa and America. Many African-Americans do not know their African lineage and cannot afford to travel back to Africa to reconnect. For many that desire to have a traditional African naming this will never be possible due to lack of finances. This will no longer be a huge barrier when Anita learns the traditions, as she will be a direct contact for those who seek reconnection.

Lastly, the chance for African-Americans to know thyself and their history is priceless and if the world can get behind supporting this cause it might be one of the things that Americans of African descent can use to further their self-love. In the end, supporting the project spreads the healing of love globally by passing down African traditions to a generation in America who never dreamed of reconnecting with their African lineage so deeply. Your contribution also assists in raising the consciousness of a people who were and to this day oppressed, marginalized and often disregarded.
