Help Open an Affordable Clinic

Jennifer Williams is a dedicated, professional, animal lover who found her calling at a young age. In 2010 when she walked through the doors of Alliance for Animals (AfA) in South Boston, MA she knew her life would change forever, and she stayed with AfA until they closed their doors for good at the end of 2015. Jennifer immediately connected with the mission of AfA, which operated as a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping inner-city pet owners afford low cost, quality heath care they deserve for their beloved pets, who would otherwise suffer in silence, or have to be euthanized (put to sleep) because their caretakers couldn’t afford a spay or neuter, or a life-saving surgery procedure. Jennifer understands the importance that seniors, especially, need to be able to afford to keep their pets healthy because in many cases that’s all the senior has in their life, and to have to euthanize one’s pet because they can’t afford the, often unnecessarily high, cost of pet care is just wrong on so many levels, because when you save a pet’s life, you save two lives. She knows the need to help other people afford to keep their pets healthy. Jennifer is hard working, caring and compassionate, and is strongly dedicated to her life’s mission. While Jennifer realizes that every animal can’t be saved, she has the strength, determination, knowledge, and leadership that it takes to save as many unfortunate pets as possible.

But we need your help. We can’t do it alone. Jennifer is a single mom working at what she loves to raise her son. She knows how fortunate she is to have a job she not only loves and believes in, but has made it her career choice. A person like that only comes around every so often, and we can’t let her slip through the cracks. If this mission is to succeed we’re going to need lots of help from the community, which, in turn, will benefit the entire community, including rescuers who are, without any government resources, trying to help so many homeless cats who have been either born outside or have been “dumped” by their heartless owners, left to fend for themselves. Many are not spayed or neutered, and the females continue to have babies, born outside, at an alarming rate. There will be a special rate for these cats who have become known as community cats. Our focus will be on spay/neuter, dental care, and TNR, but not exclusively. We all know, as pet owners, that emergencies do arise, and if we can, we will certainly do what we can to make your pet well again at an affordable price. That is our goal. A full price list will be forthcoming, but first we need help getting a clinic up and running, and a name.

Since the close of AfA Jennifer has been working consistently as a vet tech at various clinics including Medfield Animal Shelter. Jennifer has trained under the brilliance of Rosario Delgado, DVM, with whom she still works from time to time, and Mohamed Emara, DVM, who came out of retirement a few years ago, working at Alliance for Animals, Bay State Animal Clinic, and other clinics in and around Boston. She has also worked with several other talented vets who have passed through the doors of AfA through the years. Jennifer and Dr. Emara will once again be working together with a team of former AfA doctors and employees, helping to save the lives of people’s beloved pets at the new clinic. Dr. Emara is also working with Jennifer to help her dream of opening an affordable animal clinic a reality.

This is certainly a challenging undertaking, but those of us who know Jennifer and have worked with her over the years, know that if anyone can pull this off, she can. But we need your help. There is a great need for affordable veterinary care for those who can’t afford services elsewhere. Let’s all do our part to make this happen so that no animal is left behind when it comes to receiving quality vet care.
In addition to cash donations we will also need volunteers and supplies such as, blankets and towels, puppy pads, paper towels, hand soap, blue dawn dish soap,
distilled water, heating pads, etc, as well as various other office supplies.
Supply donations can be sent or brought to 232 Silver Street in South Boston.
