GA District 10 Delegate for Bernie

Donation protected

My name is Angie Eells and I am a 44 year old divorced mother to an 18 year old son and a 15 year old daughter. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice and a part time time faculty member at VSU School of Social Work.  I am a resident of Georgia's Congressional 10th District and a life long democrat. Until this election, my involvement in local, state and national politics has been limited to voting.  I have been pulled into the political process. :)

Last summer was the first time I ever heard of Senator Bernie Sanders. I felt called into this movement from the moment I heard his Presidential announcement campaign speech. Shortly after, I went to my first rally in South Carolina and subsequently became an “obsessive” volunteer for Bernie Sanders.  hahahaha

An unexpected and beautifully amazing experience of being a supporter of Bernie Sanders is the built in sense of community that's understood when you meet another supporter. Bernie Sanders supporters are friends you haven't met yet and that has been proven to me over and over again.  I decided in November 2015  I was going  to run as a Delegate for my Congressional District.

Through fall and winter, I worked tirelessly with other supporters all across the country  as we rallied behind our candidate and our movement heading into Iowa and New Hampshire. In January I volunteered in helping to organize the representation of Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Atlanta Martin Luther King, Jr. March. I marched with other Atlanta Bernie supporters, Union Teamsters and the Democratic Socialist of America.  As we prepared for Super Tuesday, I campaigned heavily in Georgia by making buttons, phone banking and canvassing. I knocked on hundreds of doors and made hundreds of phone calls. I spoke with strangers and took advantage of any opportunity to educate the public about Bernie's platform, often using my own money to print literature and make buttons. District 10 fought very hard for our one delegate. You think its hard being a democrat in a red state...be a Bernie Sanders supporter in a red state.  Whew...

Our work did not end here, we came out of the south behind but we never stopped pushing forward. Our campaign was prepared for a loss and we began vigorously investing our energy into the upcoming primary states and caucuses. We've done tremendously well outside the south as we've moved into more progressive areas of the country.  Our grassroots online community is stellar in every possible way. It fills me up to know so many like minded people are committed to the political revolution. It is awe inspiring. <3

On April 16, 2016 I was voted in my District to represent Bernie Sanders at the 2016 Democratic National Convention!!!!!!  I am now raising money to help fund this next step of the journey. I am financially responsible for ALL delegated related expenses including, but not limited, travel, lodging, meals, registration fees, etc. - Airfare or other transportation to Philadelphia - All 5 nights of hotel and related expenses. The hotel price will be roughly $400-$450 a night, but may be more depending on hotel assignment. Georgia is assigned a hotel and hotels do not accept partial bookings. There will be opportunities to bunk up with other delegates—but it is not guaranteed. Since it's now likely contested they have strongly encouraged us to stay at the delegation hotel. We have credentialing every morning at 7am followed by meetings. If its a  contested convention we can be called on the floor for a vote at anytime and if we are not there due to logistics or traffic or whatnot then Bernie loses that delegate vote.

Attending the Convention will cost several thousand dollars and is solely the responsibility of the Delegate. These funds will be needed by June 7, 2016.

As any Bernie Sanders supporter can imagine this is a dream come true. As a social worker, this is a dream come true. I was born in 1972. Most of my life I've been told that I missed  my era because I didn't live through the 60's. I am a liberal hippie at heart and a proud progressive. Being part of this political revolution is part of my journey on this earth. This is bigger than a presidential campaign for me. This is bigger than politics. I am standing witness to an awakening of human consciousness,  not only in American politics but on a global scale.  I am very proud to be a part of it. It's a transformation our spiritual beings are yearning for and one that I, along with many others, have prayed for. I know I am standing and fighting on the right side of history.  I am living my truth. Being part of this campaign aligns with one of my most significant  guiding principles written by Mahatma Ghandi; Be The Change You Wish To See In The World.

I would be extremely grateful for any contribution to help me fund this journey. I vow to represent Georgia's Congressional 10th District with the honesty, integrity, conviction and passion that are the fundamentals to this campaign.

 In solidarity, ang

Here is an article and video by the Atlanta Journal Constitution of me campaigning prior to Super Tuesday if you'd like to get a better feel for me.
