Angel's Emergency Vet Visit
My cat Angel accidentally swallowed something on 3/11/2017 making her vomit up all her food and blood. I took her to the vet the same day. At that time, they just said that maybe she ate too fast and thats causing her to throw up and that she might have an aggitated esophagus and thats why Im seeing the blood.
I took her fome for the next couple days with the medications that the vet gave her. At the hospital they gave her Cerenia to help her stop vomiting. Then gave me Carafate. I was unable to give her the Carafate due to her just vomiting it all up again and hiding under the bed 24/7. She wouldnt stop crying, drooling, she wouldnt eat or drink, she wouldnt come to me, and she wouldnt come out from under my bed.
Two days later, she seemed to have been getting better. She stopped crying and drooling. She was at least drinking water. But she still refused to eat, even just the broth of the wet food. She was coming out from under the bed, purring and just acting like herself again.
We got our hopes up when she tried to eat some wet food on 3/13/2017. We gave it to her early in the morning and she nibbled on it for awhile. But hours later I hear her just vomiting hard under my bed. Rushed her to the emergancy vet center where they took an x-ray of her. Turns out...SHE ATE A DIME..
She had an endoscopy to get the coin out which went well. But now she has a load of other issues that have come up. She's still not eating food, she has to have an IV for fluids, has an inflamed/swollen/torn esopphagus, a 1-2 diamiter GI ulcer in her stomach, and a high fever. She has been getting antibiotics and a lot of other medications. She has been in the ICU since Monday 3/13. The best thing for her is to stay in the ICU until her fever goes down and she starts to eat. I have a lot of other animals in my home which would make it difficult for Angel to heal.
As expected, the ER for animals is not cheap. It wasnt this much to begin with and now things are adding up. Its going to be between $3,300-$4,000 for her vet bill. They have decided that she needs to stay a few more days for the fluids and 24/7 care she needs. The money will be used to pay the credit card monthly bill that is being used to pay the vet.
Angel is my baby girl. Ive had her since she was about 4 or 5 months old. She was feral and very sick to begin with. When I first found her she was covered in ants and fleas and bald. Now she is 1 years old and a beautiful fiesty girl. The money you donate will help keep her in the ICU until 3/18 or 3/19 when we are hoping that she will be well enough to come home.
