WHAT HAPPENED:
Angela Horejsi has always been there for so many. But now she needs our help desperately. It all started on Monday, September 24th. Angela while away on vacation, came down with a terrible neck ache, headache, confusion and fever. Within a day she lost movement and feeling of her entire right shoulder, arm and hand. She also lost much of her left arm movement and control as well.
After a month in the hospital doctors diagnosed Angela with West Nile Virus which was transmitted by a mosquito. As a result of the virus, she also became paralyzed in her arms, shoulders and hands. She also became non coherent and unable to walk or hold her head up. The term for her current paralysis is transverse myelitis, a very rare condition that affects less than 1500 people per year. Transverse myelitis is more than just swelling and legions on the spine, as she now has extensive nerve damage to the nerve fibers on the spinal cord C4-C7.
CURRENT SITUATION:
Angela has yet to go home. Angela is now residing at Jupiter Health and Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing facility in Jupiter Florida which is located at 17781 Thelma Ave, Jupiter, FL 33458. As a single young independent vivacious beautiful woman, Angela has a very long, challenging, painful and financially difficult road ahead. Once she fights and overcomes the medical challenges of West Nile, the cause of the paralysis, she still has a long road to recovery. Although she can now walk and hold her head up, she still has no use of her shoulders at this time. Thankfully the use of one hand and elbow is starting to come back. But her right hand, wrist, arm, elbow and shoulder remains almost completely paralyzed. Additionally, Angela continues to suffer from effects of the West Nile such as inflamed nerves in her eye, pulmonary complications, blood pressure issues, excruciating edema and swelling of her hands, orthopedic issues and the terrible stabbing and burning pain, caused by the transverse myelitis. With all of these challenges, Angela remains in good spirits and has proved to be a FIGHTER! Her personality, cognition and voice are completely back and she is the driving force of her own care.
WHERE THE DONATIONS WILL GO:
Therefore Angela will need to be cared for (she can not feed herself) and will need extensive rehabilitation. She will be unable to work indefinitely and her medical bills are already mounting. All donations will be used to pay for her healthcare, medication, physical therapy, mounting bills, co-payments, transportation to and from physicians, insurance premiums, durable medical equipment, nutrition, and accessibility tools. The money will be deposited into an account by Leyla Nedin (who is Angela's power of attorney) and both Leyla and Angela will work together to make financial decisions regarding the funds.

My name is Leyla Nedin, I live in Key West Florida, and I started this Go Fund Me. As my best friend of 30 years, the god mother to my children, and my maid of honor, I can tell you that Angela has ALWAYS been there for me and for everyone she has EVER met. She has never forgotten a birthday, special event or milestone in the lives of my family, her family and friends. She goes out of her way and extends herself always thinking of others. She always lends a helping hand when anyone needs it and volunteers for many causes. She is thoughtful, kind, funny, hungry (yes...hungry...but it breaks my heart not to see so thin and barely eat right now) and loyal. So I am begging for any help you can give to make her road to recovery possible. Angela and I always had a pact, that we would be there for one another if anything ever happened. We always planned that the three of us (Jimmy, Angela and me) would live together as elderly senior citizens. We would laugh about how my kids (her god-children) would change our diapers.
