Angel Mauricio Reyes Godoy, age 17, from Honduras, living in the Bronx, NY. Angel leaves behind his mother, one sister and one brother.
Angel Mauricio Reyes Godoy (Mencho) was born on March 17th, 2001 in La Ceiba, Honduras. Horrifically, on December 10th, 2018 Angel Mauricio Reyes-Godoy (Mencho) was killed in what has now been ruled as a homicide in the Bronx, New York. Angel was pushed into the street after an altercation with a group and was then struck by a moving car - receiving severe head trauma. Angel was only 17 years young. There have been no arrests and the suspect(s) that pushed him fled the scene. The driver that struck him remained with him until he was taken to the hospital where he later passed away.
Angel immigrated from Honduras with his mom and brother at the age of 12. The three of them were in search of a better future, but more importantly, wanted to escape the violence of his home country. The United States is often seen as the only opportunity to live the “American Dream.” Unfortunately, violence found him here in the U.S., ending his life far too early.
It is deeply saddening and difficult to say good-bye to a young man full of so much joy and potential. Angel will be remembered by his warm smile, his prankful spirit and his love of Honduras. He had such a vibrant personality and made everybody around him smile. Angel had immense passion for writing and singing music, something he shared often with his family and friends.
While the US legal system gives his family hope for justice, his family knows his heart still remains in his country of Honduras. His family spoke fondly of his work ethic and willingness to help anybody who needed it. Angel was always ready to offer a helping hand and support his family in any means possible. He was cherished and loved by many, which is the reason his family and close friends wish to bring him home for his funeral and burial.
Any contribution would be greatly appreciated as this would help offset funeral expenses.

Su familia habló con cariño de su ética de trabajo y su disposición a ayudar a cualquiera que lo necesitara. Ángel siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar y apoyar a su familia de cualquier manera posible. Fue querido y amado por muchos, razón por la cual su familia y amigos cercanos desean llevarlo a casa para su funeral y entierro.
