As reported by Walker Smith  -- On January 26th, 2018 - Two Bass Boats Collide on Okeechobee During the 2018 FLW Tour event on Lake Okeechobee, two bass boats crashed into each other, injuring one angler.

On day one of the 2018 FLW Tour event on Lake Okeechobee, two bass boats were involved in a collision, according to OkeechobeeNews.net. Each boat consisted of one boater and one co-angler. All involved were competing in the event.

Both boaters were navigating the lake and met at an intersection. William Campbell’s and Andy Young’s boats collided. Young and his co-angler were thrown from their boat and were able to climb back in, thanks to Young’s kill switch shutting off the outboard motor.

The boats returned to the launch site and the incident is being investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Andy Young is reportedly in the hospital with a back injury, while the other anglers involved did not seek immediate medical attention.

Andy spent 6 days in the hospital in Florida with no medical insurance.  There was a 50/50 chance he would need back surgery for his injury.  At this time, a special back brace was formed to his body.  He has had several MRI's, physical therapy sessions, and Doctor consults while in the hospital.  This is all adding up.

Andy Young was released from the hospital on Wednesday, January 31st.  His sister, Mei, flew to be with Andy and attend to his needs.  She has secured a place for Andy to get rest, continue PT and to make upcoming Doctor appointments.

As dear friends and family of Andy's we pray for hearts to be opened for this incredible person whom we all love!  Andy has been fishing for many, many years.  Please help us raise this money so Andy and his family can consentrate on getting Andy the specialists that will be needed.  We all want to see Andy back fishing!

Just a quick update on our dear fishing buddy/friend. Andy is walking more and more. He’s throwing a line in when he can. The brace will stay on another 6 weeks. Big news... he made breakfast for Mei and himself.

Continue to pray for his recovery. Please also let all fishing buddies know we have this Go Fund Me account for Andy. There is no idea of what the cost of his hospital stay, the making of the brace and several MRI’s will total.

Thank you to each of you who have donated. The donations will easy Andy’s mind so he can concentrate on getting well.
