Andy's Lungs

If there ever was a guy to come when you need him it is Andy Barnes but now he is the guy in need.  On December 4 we received a call that Andy has been diagnosed with Metastatic Lung Cancer.  Right now we don't know all that he or his family is up against but what we do know is that we are asking for help.  Andy is a Utah State University campus police officer and has served with the Cache county sheriffs department so helping others is what he does best.  Andy's wife Cathrine and his 3 children Morgan, Tanner and Emerie are his whole world. So please join us in helping Andy Barnes. I am attaching a link with a  blogspot so you can follow along on Andys journey with his fight against Lung Cancer. Because "No one Fights Alone "

Andy was born in 1973 in Logan Utah where he was raised in Logan and Providence. Growing up, Andy learned how to work hard and helped those that needed help. While attending Mountain Crest High School Andy had numerous jobs from building homes, laying brick and tile, and working at Mountain Valley R.V as a service technician. From 1992 to 1997 Andy was a member of the Cache County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue where he held many positions. Andy accepted a position with the Cache County Sheriff's Office in 1998 where he worked in the Jail as a Corrections Officer. While in Corrections, he held several positions such as the Work Release Coordinator, Transportation Deputy, and Jailer. Andy met the love of his life Cathrine Koch and they were married in 2000. Andy was chosen to be part of the Deputies from the Cache County Sheriff's Office in 2002 that went to the Winter Olympics at Snow Basin for a security detail. The last day of the Olympics Andy came home and the next morning Morgan was born. Andy, Cathrine, and Morgan lived on the west side of town while Andy worked at the Sheriff's Office and Cathrine worked at the Specialty Hospital. In the Spring of 2005 Andy and Cathrine started a construction clean-up business which they operated while working full time at their other jobs. In 2005 Tanner was born into the family which gave Morgan a run for her money. Andy, Cathrine, Morgan and Tanner now lived in Nibley on the south end of Logan.
In 2009 Andy was offered a job at the Utah State University Police Department. This was a great career move for Andy because being a full time employee at the University he was able to have half of his tuition paid if he or any of his family members decided to go to College. After working for the University and the clean-up company for another year, in 2010 the clean-up business was sold so Andy could concentrate on his Police work and possibly going to College. Shortly after selling the construction cleaning business, Andy was accepted into Utah State University as a Non Traditional student. In 2010 Emerie was born and she definitely gave Morgan and Tanner a run for their money. Over the next few years Andy concentrated on obtaining his degree and raising his family. Andy has always been service oriented and helps anyone in need.
