Andrew turns 40 this year. As the saying goes, "life begins at forty". For Andrew life has thrown him yet another curve ball. Instead of celebrating this milestone Andrew is waiting to begin treatments for squamous cell lymphoma, an aggressive form of cancer.
First diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Follicular B Cell in 2004, Andrew faced years of unsuccessful chemotherapy treatments until his doctors suggested a Bone Marrow Transplant. Initially successful the side effects proved troublesome. Andrew lives will Chronic Graft Versus Host Disease. A common cold can turn deadly and we almost lost Andrew when he went septic in 2012. Within the past two years Andrew developed squamous cell carcinoma outbreaks all over his body, a side effect caused by the anti-rejection medications he takes daily. In January, doctors removed twenty nodes from his neck, four of which were cancerous. Since then, Andrew has been recovering at home under the close eyes of family and friends. With the impending treatment plan he will not be able to return to work until spring.
Andrew's family and some of his closest of friends have decided to come together to help him out financially during this trying time.
Unfortunately, Andrew's situation reminds us how sometimes we take life for granted. Let this serve as one of those moments, if nothing else.
We thank you for your kindness and generosity.
